Finally, i return from my travels

Sad to see Tian Tian as China's number 6 again, and if Yan keeps playing well like she did at Modena then Tian Tian will be number 7

Anyone know where Sun's playing next? She usually does well in the hardcourt tournaments, hope she can string together a few good results

p.s. great performances in the doubles of fed cup tian tian

Sun Tian Tian
2 Top-10 wins (Serena Williams and Patty Schnyder)
1 Singles Title (Tashkent '06, defeating Azarenka, Tulyaganova)
13 Doubles Titles (including 2004 Olympic Gold and 2008 AO Mixed)
Career High 77 (Singles) and 16 (Doubles)

Anyone know what US Open warm up tournies Sun will play, or is she being told to concentrate on doubles with Ting? I hope not the latter

Looks like she'll be concentrating on doubles with Ting, since they haven't entered any challengers as of yet.

I assume she'll play Bronx prior to US Open qualies...

I wish both she and Ting were doing the same thing Zi is doing at the moment.

Quite so,they mainly take charge of doubles ,single is secondary to them.
The CTA expects much of Li 、Peng and Zheng on single .

Such a shame, Tian Tian has a nice game
I doubt she'll ever reach her potential, (she's now 24 i believe?) especially since she doesn't enter for even challenger tournaments

Sun qualified for MD, also beating Seiko Okamoto (who i like ) and just beat LL Maria Fernanda Alves 6-0 6-1, first round, oh yeah! im glad Tian Tian qualified and won a MD match at a Tier II tourny, she does well on hard courts so hope she racks up the points and qualifies for US Open MD too

And back to Chinese number 5, creeping back up the rankings, number 178 already after her victories this week

The lovely Tian Tian plays Marion Bartoli today, the one who wears the raindow garb on court. Anyone know if she's any good? Im Hoping Tian Tian can beat Bartoli, and Stosur beats Dementieva cos i want Sun to get revenge for two losses earlier this season when the scores were so close! Good luck Sun

Some Team China results in the doubles tournaments also...
Li/Sun (CHN/CHN) d. Dulko/Safina (ARG/RUS) 75 63

Salerni/Vento-Kabchi (ARG/VEN) d. Yan/Zheng (CHN/CHN) 62 46 76(4)

Lee/Peng (TPE/CHN) d. (3) Benesova/Stewart (CZE/AUS) 63 75

Tian Tian Please win

Yes Andrew, Bartoli is quite good. She's a hardhitter, so it'll be tough.

Well done Tian Tian, keep going! Get your ranking back into the top 100 where it should be!

aww, Bartoli beat Sun 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-1. Sun must be out of match practice, but then again i guess this type of strong start and then tailing off in form as the match progresses is kind of a common theme with Tian Tian's results... She should work on her concentration, she'd do so much better I think. Never mind Tian Tian, qualifying and getting to 2nd round of Tier II is great for first tournament since May

Don't players like Sun, Zheng, Peng, Morigami or Asagoe deserve a space like Sugiyama and Widjaja currently have ?

Widjaja hasn't played for about a year, so her ranking is low, but Peng is near the top 30 already, Tian Tian was top 100 after Wimbledon 2004 but then hasn't carried forward her form through to this year as of yet, although her results as a qualifier at JP Morgan Chase is promising... Zheng won a title this year and had a final appearance at Rabat, and has been as high as top 50 but again, maybe more due to the interuptions the Chinese players have had this season, she hasn't been able to play and get a good win streak going. Morigami is in the best form of her life, career first WTA tournament final at Cincinatti, and is approaching top 50. Asagoe was actually above Sugiyama, in the top 30 earlier this season but a string of first round/second round defeats have watched her slide back down, despite encouraging performances since the US Open 2004. I'm glad all these players are getting recognition and some new fans, but there's still a long way to go before they all reach their full potential, maybe except Asagoe who is now quite old
