Re: How to improve your AWFUL serve ?

I have a very consistent toss because I'm left-handed with throwing. I have most trouble with establishing a good contact point, I sometimes don't let the ball drop enough. I try to lunge upwards instead of forward which results in very embarassinf serves

Re: How to improve your AWFUL serve ?

My first serve is pretty shit lately It's good when it goes in but, I've been at maybe 10, 15 % 1st serve in, in my last 3 or 4 matches My 2nd serve is for most part reliable, I just try do a heavy slice deap into the box, but I still double of that occasionally

I usually have a 3-6 A/DF ratio per match- I have a good serve that is a weapon when on, but mostly a liability There was one match a few monthes ago I went 10-1 A/DF-and this was just a one set match My serve really worked that day, but haven't gotten as good since. However I reining my 1st serve in now, as Im starting to get a defeated mindset that I'll hit a 2nd serve anyway, so i don't do my 1st serve properly, but I'm not going for as much now and it's starting to work again

Anyone here do a kickserve? I've tried but I always hit it near to the baseline trying to get the spin, don't bring my racquet down enough. Probably should practice that, playing a tourney next month so need a variety of serves to mix it up otherwise I will get creamed by the white tourney vultures

My first serve speed is fast but inconsistent....however, I really lack feel at times on my second serve and double-fault so much. I feel like Sharapova tbh, just hitting two first serves It does not work for me....putting spin on the 2nd serve and getting my toss right is the problem it seems...

This sounds so familiar i have to say, if I play a match, I start double faulting less and less because I get better feel and rhythm as I serve more often. In particular in the first 2 service games I double fault quite often.

I actually found that too, when I played a match, I actually ended up finding some rhythm on the serve and managed to serve aces and stop hitting DFs. Yeah, I've hit a whole game of DFs many times at the beginning of a match.

Then when I'm serving into the sun......disaster!

Re: How to improve your AWFUL serve ?

i just played a few social games with mates, but i have no decent serve, like it goes in most of the time but i am basically throwing the ball forward and hitting it when i try to do a conventional serve, it lands a inch inside the baseline Help me!!

Mine isn't amazing at all, but watch a player who has a great service action maybe...make sure you have a good throwing action and bend your knees when you go for your serve....there are a few good videos on YouTube. It's the hardest shot to master I think.

Re: How to improve your AWFUL serve ?

I played a doubles match today. We were up 6-2, 5-0 and I was serving for the match. I DF'd twice (First DF's of the match) and my teammate hit an unforced error which put us in a 15-40 pickle. At this point I served an unreturned serve followed by an ace (#2 of the match) and yet another unreturned serve to seal the match, defending 2BP's en-route

Thanks.

I'm left-handed, I like to hit the ball hard, everything is all quite flat, so a lot of errors. Although I can put topspin on my forehand to keep it in play and move the ball around the court, so it's my better shot. Probably similar to Safarova and on a very bad day. I'd say my movement is my main weak point.

What about you?

Lucie

I like to believe I developed from a poor man's Wozniacki to a solid Lisicki (strokewise) but of course without the huge serve. Oh yeah and with a brain. I like to hit my shots flat and I'm good at the net and I can reach most shots as my movement is decent. I also have pretty decent anticipation so after playing someone for about set I already know their tricks My main problem is the power but I can move my opponent around the court a la Aga My technique is basically modelled on Agnieszka too
Oh yeah, and I don't have a backhand but a right handed and left handed forehand
