I lost mine like a year ago and I didn't bother to buy another one, and I thought the difference wasn't that big until 2 days ago, when my mate found a vibration dampener on the court and gave it to me cause he already had one, my God I hit the ball with much more conviction and the match ended up in a tie, and I hadn't won a set against him in months First match in ages in which I hit winners of every kind: forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads, even aces And the occasional dropshots of course
The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.
I get no feel on my shots when I use a dampener, however I do not like the ping sound one bit. I had a Prince dampener that I really liked and played well with, but unfortunately lost it a year ago. Tbh, I now use a #64 rubber band as a "dampener" and they work like a treat for me. But yeah, weirdly I don't like playing without one.
Q. Have you thought about your next round opponent?
JJ: Who am I playing? I don't even know who yet. Q. Thai girl.
JJ: Tiger? Q. Tanasugarn.
