Re: Worst shots in your repertoire?

Forehand DL, Backhand DL, I need to improve serve for sure, I don't use volleys at all, even my forehand cross court is a mess often. Quite a lot shots huh? :/

Re: Worst shots in your repertoire?

Anyone saying the serve, you can practise it even by yourself. You don't even need to be on a tennis court to practise your toss and the toss is the key to a good serve. I used to have a bad serve but now I can get it in almost all the time, it won't be a big serve but it's in.

Volleys, you can't practise. Also, if you're a strong baseliner, there's little incentive to practise volleys. I like hitting swing volleys though.

My slice is actually not too bad but in a game situation again, my first instinct isn't to slice the ball back.

Divas: Seles, Sharapova, Muguruza
Pas de Quatre:
Swan Lake, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Coppélia

Re: Worst shots in your repertoire?

Forehand down the line
I hit with some top spin, and it's harder to hit it down the line with top spin

Oh yeah, and my smash is horrendous, it's ridiculous.. I guess it's because I mess up with grips. The grip should be like when you're serving, right? Instead, I choose a western grip like on my FH, and the ball flies to the right side to the fence

Seriously can anyone give me tips for serving because it is one of my only easily exposed weaknesses and if it became even half way decent I could have a much higher ranking and win matches much more frequently and easily

Ive tried the kick serve on the ad side and it really seems to work for me I just have to perfect it!
Things still havent changed that much. My first serve can be a weapon occasionally, although it is very inconsistent, and can get some free points more often now, with an occasional 2-3 aces per match.

My second serve is probably 50 mph and is so bad! Looking back my drop shots are pretty bad too and can be very predictable and not short at all. My backhand volley has improved but can still easily be broken down throughout the course of a match. (hense why I rarely come to the net, or when its a short ball I run back to the baseline )

Its weird though because I have attempted serve and volleying every once and a while and it can sometimes really work and it feels great!!

BH slices, especially on clay. Other than that, volleys and second serves.

It is great that somebody started this topic and now we can have a look back at what used to be our weaknesses.

My backhand has become wayyyyyyyyy better with the two-handed one. I can occasionally use it as a weapon both for DTL and CC, hitting some winners with it has helped me boost my confidence in my backhand and I owe it to the two-handed bh. I can't still lob very well with it and have to use a one-handed lob if I want it to go quite high.

I have changed my serve to kick serve for both first and second serve (my second serve was quite bad and I tried to hit it like a first serve, just a bit softer) and I couldn't be confident that it will go in 9 out of 10.
However, the serve is far from strong yet, I have less double fault rate (one or two per set, whereas it used to be one or two per game), but can't kick the ball high enough yet. But I am working on it.

Championship: TP3 Wimbledon 2011, Suicide Tennis New Haven 2011
RUP: TT Doubles AO 2012

May the HAMMER smash the cross

This. Even though I don't have problems with double faults, my serve is so weak. I don't know how fast it is, but I would say max 70/80 km/h.

I never hit a smash becouse I don't know how to hit it good. The ball is just to slow if I try. I don't use volleys eather, but sometimes I execute a drop shot (not always intentionally )

Definition of baseliner is perfect for me.

My serve and my smashes. In the past, even though I've been like a meter away from the net, I've netted the ball doing a smash

There's always the drive volley i don't hit a smash unless i'm standing right on top of the net.
