Re: Which backhand do you use?

I can't decide what double backhand grip should I use. I've been using continental grip for my right (dominant) hand, but I can't get enough spin. It's is bothering me, because my forehand (I use eastern grip) produce a lot of spin and I can hit flat ball also. I've been thinking to start using double backhand grip with dominant right hand in an eastern backhand. I know with that grip I would have to hit ball more in front of me and I'll have much troubles with lower balls (opposite for high balls).

What do you suggest? I would really love to hit spin from both sides...

For example: Djokovic uses continental grip for his backhand and it's probably the best backhand on the tour.

I'll probably hit my backhands more easily cause of the loop (I play tennis 2 times a week)

EDIT: Today I tried two-handed backhand with a eastern backhand grip on my right dominant hand. It's pretty though to brush the ball and hit at the same time. It would bo tougher on the court, couse today was just hitting the wall.

Will probably stick to continental and try to brush more. Won't get so much spin as with the eastern backhand, but eventually I could change the grip to eastern backhand, when gain speed, control and power.

Is it possible to play good spin with continental grip?

Can you tell me what is the most common two-handed grip on the tour? Federer uses eastern backhand, Murray and Djokovič two-handed continental....

Re: Which backhand do you use?

I use a one hander only now. It was difficult to learn and isn't that consistent but much prefer it. I also find it easier to hit down the line shots and to change to a slice at the last minute if needed.

Re: Which backhand do you use?

Two handed, western FH grip. I preferred my eastern FH grip BH, where is felt so relaxing to let frustration out and club my BH's with force But it wasn't that consistent

Fatal backhand Two handed, similar to Hewitt's.

Re: Which backhand do you use?

I started to play tennis at the age of 14 and two handed backhand was a kind of natural for me back then. However after maybe 3 years I started to hit also one handed slices and eventually most of my backhands were one handed slices and so in time I kind of lost my two handed backhand. So from about age 20 I have been hitting one handed backhand (both slice and topspin) and I'm now slightly over 40 years of age.

Re: Which backhand do you use?

I have two handed backhand, but I tend to play slice on the backhand a lot because Im unconfident with my backhand outside of practice, which sucks because i can hit pretty spectacular DTL backhands kinda like JJ, my crosscourt backhands are another story though, I need to move and set up sooner for it to be effective so thats why in matches I'm not very keen on hitting the backhand, especially when i get nervous I slow down my swing and then i either don't put enough spin and it flies out or I hit it too flat and it catches the top of the net...

Two handed...just took to it naturally. Used to be my best shot and all my favorite players for the most part had them as their best shots as well.
