omg you guys are so need to stand up.
stare them down!
when you hit a winner scream at them
"TRY SLICE THAT BITCH"
and just generally make them feel uneasy and they will shutup.

"But Isha, many people believe, could have been the third Williams sister"

I played someone on the weekend like that
It's really annoying when they do it every point, fair nough if it was a tight situation or after a good shots/long rally but after simple things like a missed return it's just frustating.

Re: Not letting Henin/Murray type behaviour get to you.

No emotions, be a perfeccionist on court, the only thing that matters in the moment of playing is tennis, if you deny the happiness you'll also be able to deny the frustration, it works for me I can be more efficient on court, save more energy, and avoid more chokes. Of course I'm just talking about tennis, if this was a way of live I would commit suicide

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Personally, screaming and fistpumping really help me keep the momentum going when it's in my favour, ESPECIALLY in tiebreaks. When I lead 5-1, a simple side change is enough for me to lose concentration, I need the shouting and fistpumping and talking to keep going.

I am not offensive. I just make a come on after every point I win, something like Rezai towards the end of the match.

Re: Not letting Henin/Murray type behaviour get to you.

As hard as it can be when you're already frustrated by your own errors, the best thing to try and do is just focus on yourself and block the other person out. In tennis it is important to have a short term memory - Focus one point at a time, and don't dwell on the past, or get ahead of yourself.

When you are playing against someone who has an aggressive in your face attitude, they are looking to get that negative reaction from you, either by being frustrated, or intimidated. Nothing helps them more than visibly seeing that their antics are upsetting you and consequently unravelling your game in the process.

Play within yourself, and play smart percentage tennis, that will help to reduce the chance of errors. Also, the more focused you are, the more inclined you will be to reduce your errors because you are remembering the little things (keeping your eye on the ball, small footwork adjustments etc.).

And once you've beat them, then you can let out a good holler and a fist pump back

"Religion has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. Any if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But he loves you."

Before you speak to me about your religion, first show it to me in how you treat other people; before you tell me how much you love your God, show me in how much you love all His children; before you preach to me of your passion for your faith, teach me about it through your compassion for your neighbors. In the end, I'm not as interested in what you have to tell or sell as in how you choose to live and give.

Let me get your question straight. When you say like Henin and Murray, do you mean just the verbal "come ons!" or the retreiver style too (but Henin is not just a retreiver by any means). Just trying to figure out the root here. Let me know.

Re: Not letting Henin/Murray type behaviour get to you.

the best thing i ever did was buy myself a vibration dampner with a peace sign on it. whenever i start feeling my temper or annoyance rising on court i turn my back look at the peace sign and breathe. i haven't smashed a racket since having it, and im a regular racket smasher.
