Re: 4 double faults in a row to lose game?

hahahahaha this is embarrassing... yes i have done it in a practice match... twice in one set... i'd just started playing again after a few months off with an injured shoulder and came back expecting to be able to serve like i always had... evidently i couldn't, and interestingly enough i still can't... got walloped 2 and 0... great day for me

Ok seriously. I hit 9 double faults in 3 service games today.
Ever since I made this thread my serving has been a joke.

Re: 4 double faults in a row to lose game?

Three double faults is the most I've hit consecutively.

As for aces, I've hit 3 unreturnable serves in a row before, but never 4 aces.

My serve is technically terrible. It looks horrific, it's really abbreviated with a low ball toss, but I somehow hit it hard enough to win some free points.

Daniela Hantuchova.

I once played a guy who served up FIVE doubles in a row after going up 40-0. I kid you not.

From 0-15 I hit two aces... then proceded to hit 3 DF's to lose serve... and the match.. was on serve until then too

I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it's half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me.

Re: 4 double faults in a row to lose game?

I've done it a couple times against Mr.SerenaWilliams. I figure it's better just to DF then puff my second serve in and have him hit the return faster then my serve right back at me and hit me again.

And here you are, a black unicorn.
Mythical and mystical since the day that you were born.

Re: 4 double faults in a row to lose game?

Here's the deal: I've double faulted 8 times in one game before, but it was all on the ad side. It was my first service game of a high school doubles match. I was a Dementieva my freshman year, great groundies, return, and speed and strength...but couldn't serve worth a damn. My doubles partner was like...look...you could tap it in for all I care, just get your serve in...and it took 9 times on the AD side to get one in.

Next stop: Roland Garros

Ana ('08 RG), Serena (21), Venus (7), Petra (2), Angie ('16 AO)
Vika (2), Sveta (2), Simona, Garbi, Ka. Pliskova
Kim (4), Mahree (2), Monica (9), Dokic, Sandrine, Jie

Re: 4 double faults in a row to lose game?

Conversely, I've hit 4 serves to win the game.

0-0: Slice serve out wide ace.
15-0: Flat serve out wide ace
30-0: Flat serve up the T ace
40-0: Flat serve out wide service winner.

That was back in the day when I had a GOAT flat serve. Now with my arm injuries I'm not quite getting the top speeds on the serve.
And I'm only 28
