I am new to the site. In high school, I don't even know what I played with. It was a cheap gold/silver with black handle racket with a Black Letter "D" in the strings (not a Dunlop) and a rather large head - at least 105 sq.inch.
A couple years later I found a prokennex at a thrift shop. Very heavy - before I knew anything about specs, etc.. and I really loved it. I bought 2 wilson rackets from Walmart like 14.99 each. The first one was horrible, the frame was horridly shaped and un-even.. one side being a little smooshed in than the other. The other "walmart" wilson had Federer's signature on it and the handle was weird.. it wasn't tape so much as a cushion-y mess. I really liked it, tho, at the time. I served with some heat with that racket. I kind of went back and forth between that one and the prokennex. The prokennex would hurt my lower arm after longer matches, tho. My shoulder never hurt with any of the rackets I played with.
Now that I actually know a thing or two about "real" rackets and not the ones you get at General Merchandise Stores - I have a Prince 03 Speedport Black (bought it thinking it was Jelena Jankovic's racket) and I think she's always been a 03 White - and I also got a Prince E0X3 Tour Team 100. I actually love the EX03 Tour Team 100 more than my "Jankovic" racket.
I don't really have a specific reason except that it just feels better. My favorite racket ever.
Although, I really am thinking about jumping on the Babolat wagon some day soon since everyone else is.. it seems.
I never went back to Wilson because of how crappy the first Wilson "Walmart" purchase was. I just have a negative connotation about the brand. But I guess the Wilson rackets that come from proshops, etc. are extremely quality after reading all 33 pages of this thread.
Might demo those.
