Darwin, the small city near where I live is hosting the 3rd Asia Pacific Outgames this year and the tennis tournament is just about to get GLTA sanctioning. Should be good! Especially because Darwin is a small conservative city so it's gonna be pretty crazy having so many sporty homos running around there for a week!
You should Territory, Dublin tournament is always great fun! :-)

Many aussies came in the past years, and apart from europeans, we always receive lots of american and canadian players, so really international overall

It's during the bank holiday at the beginning of May

Re: Is anyone playing on GLTA tour?

For the third year in a row, Mr.SW and I shall be competing in the US Gay Open, this year it's moved from Stanford to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

And here you are, a black unicorn.
Mythical and mystical since the day that you were born.

Re: Glta

Only a few weeks to go til the Asia Pacific Outgames in Darwin. It's been accredited as a GLTA tournament now: http://glta.tournamentsoftware.com/s...3-D63317ABDFEA

It's gonna be so cool having this near where I live, and in a small city of only 100,000 or so.

Re: Glta

Oh, I won silver medals in the open singles and doubles (AsiaPacific Outgames in Darwin last month) and now my GLTA ranking is something crazy like 155!!

I'm in there somewhere:

Re: Glta

The Australian Gay & Lesbian Open (AGLO) is on this weekend. I'm not playing this year but I had a look at the draw. There's actually a recently ATP-ranked player in it! Kris Balakrishnan got up to #108 in juniors and the 700s in the seniors before giving up the pro tour at about 20/21. He's only 24 still and I think this is his first GLTA tournament. Surely he'll thrash everyone and win easily.

I wonder how much his sexuality had to do with not pursuing a pro career further? It makes me sad to think that it could've been a factor. (Not that I'd blame Kris, but rather the heteronormativity of pro men's tennis )

Re: Glta

I played Giselle after she transitioned. It was unfair but I won. Had to play like a beast though.

I wouldn't say he will trash everyone at the Open draw, especially (1) Russell Hall is on his part of the draw and Russell is very good and experience player when it comes to AGLO

Re: Glta

I didn't say trash, i said thrash there's an important difference

And yeah, Russell is good, but he's never been ATP level as far as I know. Should be a good comp tho! Interested to see what happens.

Hehe yeah. It's all good fun. As long as you play well that's all you can really hope for. Have you seen Kris play before?
