Re: Your tennis results?!

Hi! I played with my friend today. It was really GOAT match with GOAT shots. He led 62 50 and I changed my racquet. It was really windy-GOATY day and I was really nervous. That's weird because I often play well and with no respect, I'm not angry etc. Then, somehow, I won next 6 games. Having 2 aces. Although, I won this second set in tiebreak 7-6 (7). Have two set points, then I somehow let him a chance and he had serve for win, but he didn't realize. In third, I have nervous start, but brake him. He rebrakes. At the end, on 5-4 for him, he has 3 match points on my serve, I saved two, but on third I have really bad forehand moonball. He won 62 67(7) 64 In last three matches I defeated him 63 46 75, 76 63 and 75 62.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Played again today against another friend. Didn't play against him in some time. Really played good again. My serve and forehand were on fire today ... after a bit shaky start I won with really comfortable result even though match was very close. Final result was 5-7, 6-0 and 6-1 for me.

Re: Your tennis results?!

I just got junk-balled to death by some random guy in the park. I never realised I was so shit with slice. I'm used to taking top-spin balls on the rise or redirecting flat shots, but even his drive forehands were just stopping and dying. I kept on missing the ball, it was so embarrassing.

Re: Your tennis results?!

I used to play tennis regularly, my dad's a tennis coach, until I was about 17/18 and then I just lost interest in playing altogether. Call it 'Murraymania' or whatever but I've been wanting to start playing again this summer & finally played against a friend (who I knew I used to be a lot better than) on Wednesday and managed to win 6-0 7-5! I don't really know what happened in the 2nd set, I went 5-2 down and then she basically just choked away the set to hand it to me.

It was in a full on heatwave as well, I was totally cream crackered by the end - definitely couldn't have handled a 3rd set. Most annoying thing was missing shots that I know I used to be able to make with my eyes closed (and that my serve is even more cringey than it used to be) but I'm glad to be playing again anyway, definitely gonna keep it up.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Won't be playing club till October . My lessons are going well though. I still haven't played any matches since I've worked on my serve either.

Fully expecting to flop a lot less .

Re: Your tennis results?!

Playing a tournament which started today, had to play in the heat (37° )

I originally wanted to go for all my shots but as soon as the match started, I only pushed everything back again. Because of my freaking game the match lasted 2,5 hours

BUT... I saved freaking 5 Matchpoints and won 6-3 4-6 14-12 (MTB)
Already was down 6-9 in the MTB but I got my nerves together and stayed calmed.

Next match is tomorrow. My only goal: no pushing.

Re: Your tennis results?!

I played a really good match yesterday. It would easily be the best I've ever played and lost the guy I played against was playing incredible too, we had heaps of intense rallies and both of us just hit the ball so hard. It was interesting for me to play against someone around my age/younger who could handle my pace of shot so well - I know that sounds pretty arogant but tbh most people I play who are 15-17 years old or younger I can basically hit them off the court if I'm playing well, but he just matched everything I had. He won 7-5 4-6 7-6(5)

In doubles we lost 1-6 1-6 in one of my service games I hit four consecutive DFs and in the next I hit four consecutive aces I was beyond inconsistent in that match.

@ the 4 consecutive Dfs

@ the 4 consecutive aces

Sounds like a WTA style doubles match!

What a close scoreline.. I'd love to have that scoreline one day, but sadly not anytime soon

Re: Your tennis results?!

Yesterday I lost 36 64 61 to my couz. Really it was a ballbashing fest I couldn't serve, hit a number of double faults in the last 2 sets. Had a 63 31 lead... After I missed a backhand swinging volley into the net, hit 2 DFs after that. Then my next service game hit another DF so 3 in a row.. then I wasn't timing anything well. Couldn't hit a proper backhand..

Re: Your tennis results?!

After a 5 year hiatus, I'm playing comp again. Sooo nervous. Auburn Tennis NSW starting off with doubles and seeing how I go.

I've been playing with my partner who is similar to Radwanska, always beats me, I tend to play like Petra.

Hopefully I don't get too nervous...nerves are always my weak point

Re: Your tennis results?!

Since my last post, my comeback tour has moved on to 3 wins without dropping a set! I guess tennis really is just like riding a bike after all. I still haven't played anybody that good yet, but I'm pleasantly surprised that my game hasn't completely evaporated after ignoring it for a few years. I played the girl I beat in my first match back again & got a 6-1 6-1 win (I was way more solid than the first match) and then yesterday played someone who I knew would be a little bit tougher and got the 6-4 6-4 win! Not gonna lie, I was genuinely buzzing at that!

It's not all been perfect though. There was a point yesterday where I was going for a smash, completely lost the ball in the sun, managed to trip over my own foot & fall on my arse before the ball, inevitably, bounced off my head. Sometimes I think I've just been put on this planet to give God something to laugh at...

Anyway I'm playing another friend later this week who used to sometimes beat me even when I was good in the past so it'll be decent to see where I'm at - fully expecting to lose though. My serving makes Errani's look like Ivo Karlovic's at the minute. Definitely enjoying playing again though, especially in this weather... way more fun than having to force yourself to go to the gym!

Re: Your tennis results?!

For my tennis lesson today, my coach and I played part of a match. I didn't win any game . I've practiced my serve so hard this week but couldn't get a first serve in today . Also I barely moved. I'd serve or hit a shot and then just stand there . So retarded.

I came up with a few shots though. Like a DTL backhand on a second serve return. Also I played a good point where I opened up a DTL forehand to finish (historically a bad shot for me) and I nailed it . I think I cut it pretty fine (landed just inside the line I think) but with that and the BH return winner it's a great feeling when you make a good shot you actually wanted to hit and it's not just luck .

I hit some other really good deep returns but my movement was so bad I couldn't really reap the benefit . Basically groundstrokes were good, but serve and movement atrocious. Oh well. I was thinking I was ready for clubs again but I so need to do some more work first .
