I went to this thing where anyone comes and signs up, and you play against them in a round robin format. You have different doubles partners every time. It was all doubles and one court was 2 vs. 1

I played four doubles "matches" and two 2 vs. 1 "matches." The "matches" are just everybody has 1 service game and then you play a 7 point tiebreak.

First match, won 4-0 but didn't do a tiebreak. Second match we forgot how to do the scoring so we played 7 games total (lost 3-4.) Third match we lost 1-3 but won tiebreak 7-3. Fourth match we lost 1-3, but won tiebreak 8-6.

2 vs. 1 first match I was in the 2 side and we won 4-0 and tiebreak something like 7-1. Second match we lost 0-4 and lost tiebreak 2-7 (we played my friend who was in the 1 side and he's way too good lol)

It was fun.

So I'm playing this tourney on artificial grass and I need to vent. That shit is horrible. I can't time a single shot properly.

I love it better than en tout cas (the Australian clay). Imo, the serve is faster, shots are lower (good for drop shots) and yeh, I just like it better

Every bloody club match is played on artificial grass here in NZ, and that's also where I'm getting coached on how to play. I don't like it either . I will say one thing for it though - it makes HC matches with so much more time on the ball that much more enjoyable .

Re: Your tennis results?!

I'm proud of myself for how much I've been able to improve my serve on my own. I practiced the day before yesterday (a fine day in between rain lol ) and it was my best practice in ages.

It really makes me long to play matches again though. I wasn't serving anywhere close to this when I was losing every damn match and couldn't wait for it to be over. It's gonna be a very long winter .

Re: Your tennis results?!

Two weeks, two tournaments, two straight double-bagel losses. Time to change my training regimen, because what I'm doing is obviously not working.

There are way more hard courts here in Welly. My club has artificial grass as well and I totally agree with you last sentence.

I played at the winter interclub two weeks ago, it is doubles only and you have to play 3 doubles with 3 different partners. I won two out of those 3 and gained 100 ranking points in doubles.
Next match is tomorrow.

Championship: TP3 Wimbledon 2011, Suicide Tennis New Haven 2011
RUP: TT Doubles AO 2012

May the HAMMER smash the cross

Re: Your tennis results?!

10-8 doubles today (no tiebreak, full set). Just 1 set, becuse it was late already. My partner didn´t come so I came to guys who were training there and asked for a match. I was surprised that I wasn´t actually that much worse than them Beuatiful backhand return winner down to line to finish the match, that was delicious Of course also a lot of errors, especially forehand volleys are very hard to hit when your opponent hit a hard top spin shot, but I am still very happy, because it was against people who train a lot more than me and this match was the first actual match I played after years.

Played my same friend again. The one who always crushes me

This time was a bit different

He served first, held to love, I couldn't hit a return. Next game, I'm up 30-0, then it's 30 all and I'm thinking "Oh God here we go." Fortunately he misses two and its 1-1. He serves and holds easily again, but I'm finding my range. I find my inner Jelena on the next game and make him hit 1 extra shot a couple of points and I hold 2-2. I'm really hitting my forehand and return well today, and i finally break for 3-2.I find some amazing serves out of no where AND I ACTUALLY DID A SUCCESSFUL SERVE AND VOLLEY. I felt like I had just won Wimbledon
He's down 2-4, and my forehand is the best it's been in a while. My return is also on fire. I hit some nice drop shot returns too and go up 5-2 double break! This is out of the ordinary when we play b/c it's usually the other way around

Then we had to leave to go to the doubles round robin thing. I think we had enough time for me to try to serve out the first set so I don't know if he really wanted to leave, or if he didn't want face losing a set to me

Too bad once we go to doubles my stomach was hurting so badly and I felt so sick. It was out of no where. I lost all my energy and played like garbage. I was so annoyed. It was at least enjoyable beforehand since I was playing better than usual.

^ The punk stole your thunder and didn't let you serve the set out . Oh well, next time try and bitchslap him again and make sure there's lots of time so he can't run away .

It's good having coaching again. Yesterday we did volleys. Painful . They'll be good to learn though .

Re: Your tennis results?!

Yesterday 5 tiebreak-like sets - 10-7, 10-1, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9

The only point I lost in second set was by doublefault, the third set finished also by doublefault Many shanked volleys, again especially from the forehand

Re: Your tennis results?!

had practice yesterday and I served so well! Nearing the end I started tiring and I threw in some double faults but also my baseline strokes were working really well so I was happy
