Re: Your tennis results?!

I often play a friend of mine, like once or twice every week. Honestly, the head to head would be some stupid number but I think he is winning. The matches we play will (most of the time) go to three sets with the score being something ridiculous like 57 76 11-9 (MTB). Other times, it's a beat down. I'm usually on the receiving end too

Re: Your tennis results?!

I got pounded in my US Open national qualifying match. double bagel i actually played ok, he was just very very good. i had a great time and it was a fun experience. the only lame part was that on either side of me were players i could've crushed luck of the draw!

It will always be Arantxa, hall of famer! and martina hingis and kim clijsters - amazing legends
ana ivanovic and the italian girls, especially pennetta (forza azzurre! RG CHAMP FRANCESCA AND FINALIST SARA!)
aga, vika, sam, na in the next tier
NEVER say "I don't care who wins, I just want good tennis"

Signed up for a Futures event in Napoli, Italy, as I'm heading there for a trip in May. So far I'm in the alternate list, but possibly could get in! I'll sign in anyways!

Earlier in March, I was sthing like 100 out in Montreal and Sherbrooke, and got in both qualifying draws!

I've honestly never played on red clay . I just played a small tourney (doubles) on green clay(Har-Tru)which really doesn't suit my game. I had a hard time adjusting to the slowness of the green stuff. I can't imagine how much more trouble i would have on the red stuff

Re: Your tennis results?!

well played a match yesterday where i started VERY slow.

quickly went down 0-5. was down 0-40 on my serve so i thought, what the fuck, i'll just hit it as hard as i can, and i'd rather double fault it away then my opponent having another winner. so i hit one backhand winner, 2 unreturnable serves, an ace and another backhand winner to win the game. i still remember what they look like in my head because i remember screaming come on after each of them.

lost the set 2-6 though eventually, saving another 4 set points. 2nd set was close, i led 4-1 but then lost the lead to 5-4 and it was back on serve and then in the tiebreak he went up 6-4. saved those 2 MPs and then i had SP at 7-6 and he had another MP at 8-7 but then i won the set 10-8 in the tiebreak.

pretty much the same story in the last set, always down. down 1-4 very quickly, i came back to 5-4 and served for the match, double faulted on MP but eventually won it 7-5.

was proud of myself

Re: Your tennis results?!

I remember being down 4-6 0-4 in the semifinals of the Quebec Championship two years ago. I got a code violation at that particular time for screaming: ''Play your FUCKING game, you aint Serena Williams''! I won 4-6 7-5 6-0

I played unbelievable tennis after I was real mad!!! I would just give him stare after each points. Like I aint going down to you no WAY!!! I'm a show you the way out! be sure!!!

I adore playing on Red Clay, but actually I enjoy all surfaces. I'm really lucky because my school has Clay courts and then a US Open style accrylic. And then my tennis club has grass courts and tarmac courts as well. So I get to play on most surfaces. Speed has always been my best strength (I'm county champion for Hurdles etc. so do a lot of sprinting) so I used to be very much a pusher but thankfully 5 years of lessons mean that the player I'd compare myself to now is Ferrero (except with a single handed backhand and obviously a lot worse than JCF) but my forehand and speed are now equal strengths. I've just started getting some real kick on my second serve as well which is pleasing because for the last 2 years I've just always used a slice second serve.

I love clay though, because I used angles a lot and that really helps. But I also love playing on grass because I don't have great approach shots but my volleys are good and grass hides my slightly too safe approach shots due to its speed and low bounce.

Re: Your tennis results?!

My first match of the year was 2 weeks ago: I played for the first time since 6 months but won 62 64

I was up in both sets with 3-0 but also got broken then in both so that I only were leading 3-2* but I managed to win the first set easily.
In the 2nd set I was serving for the match at *5-4 and I was down with 0-40 Made 2 DF's and 1 FH UE. It was like the longest game in my short tennis-career. I had several MP's and also he had several BP's for 5-5. But in the end I took like the 7th or 8th MP with a FH winner

ATM, I have a hand injury but I want to start playing this week again

Re: Your tennis results?!

After injuring my shoulder I have only just started playing competitive club matches, last ones were in November. I won my last one 6-1 6-0 and i think I'm finally ready to start playing tournaments again!
