Played my friend again. Same guy who I lost 62 61 against the other day. Much closer this time. I lost 7-6(5) 6-4.
I let so many leads slip away it was so frustrating. Yes he did produce good tennis during many of those points but silly UEs on my part on the clutch points was also my down fall
I led *2-1 and *3-2 and *5-3 40-15* in set 1. Hit two BH UEs on those set points. Served for it at *5-4 and again at *6-5. He produced some winners and I didn't hit that great of serves/shots when serving for it. I was down *0-3 in the tiebreak and got it back to 5-5 but I hit an UE and then he came to net and put away a simple FH volley to win the breaker 7-5.
Second set I led 3-0* and *4-2 and had him serving at 0-40 at 4-3* but couldn't break. I was up *40-15 4-4 with another game point at Advantage but couldn't hold. Had him at 4-5* 40-15* when he served for the match but couldn't do it.
It's so unbelievably frustrating I can't even describe it. This guy is better than me. Usually crushes me. I'm lucky to get a 6-3 set most of the time. But I incorporated a different game plan than usual. Pushing.
PUSHING. OF ALL THE GAME PLANS I HATE I USED IT AND IT WORKED
I just made sure to hit deep, adding aggression only when need be, and just getting the ball over. Of course he hit plenty of clean winners, mainly on the FH side, but he also hit a TON of errors. And I cared not one bit
I did play 2 hours of doubles before we played so I was a bit tired going into it but nothing I thought was the reason I didn't win. He was more clutch on the bigger points. All in all my body is dead tired today but it was great fun. I don't mind losing at all. I just want the scoreline to be decent and not 61 61 everytime.
