Welcome to Prague, Czech republic! It's off season now so there's a time for national championships. Definitely, Czech republic has to have their own. Stars like Nicole Vaidisova, Iveta Benesova and Lucie Safarova won't miss this competition.
"We were fighting for this championships to be held this year because we didn't have enough players and WTA TOUR didn't allow us a championship for Czech republic. But this year we can announce the first Czech Championships in the history." said Kaderka.
"We're happy to welcome big stars like Nicole Vaidisova and Lucie Safarova in Prague." said FED CUP team captain Petr Pala.
"I'm happy we have our first Championships of Czech republic. It will be very interesting to see who is the winner." said Novotna.
"We were picking players along their rankings, we took first 31 singles players into MD directly and we had one WILD CARD spot. It wasn't hard to decide who will receive it. It had to be the best doubles player Kveta Peschke." said Kaderka.
"It's really a great pleasure for me to compete here, I love Prague. I'm happy we finally have our own Championships. We can meat each other here and talk more. Also we can find out who's in the best form. It's nice to see I'm in a different half from Iveta, I wouldn't like to play her again early as at the French Open, it was a tough match in heart for both of us." said Vaidisova at her press conference.
"I'm really happy to be here, you know, it's a pleasure to play at home. I had a great season and I'm seed #2, that means I can't meet Nicole, my best friend, before the final." said Benesova who looked in a great mood.
"It's nice to be here, I love Czech republic and we have only one tournament here. It's really great WTA TOUR finally allowed this championships to the Czech republic. I will try to do my best!" said confident Safarova.
Who will compete the best? Who will win the first Czech Championships? Will it be some favorite from seeds or some absolutely non-known player? We will find that out this week!
