Arrow 2002 ETA Committments Part I

Here are the new ETA commitments for the first part of next season! I have yet to determine draw sizes for each event since the game is constantly expanding. The numbers next to each event are tentative.

Remember to keep these things in mind when committing to events:

1) The rankings used for entries into these events are based on the rankings after Porsche/Kiwi. These will be posted shortly and you can see them here http://www.wtaworld.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=000110

2) As of now there are 4 wildcards per event, though this may change soon.

3) Try to coordinate with your doubles partner to set a similiar schedule. If you don't have a permanent doubles partner then you can look for one in here.

4) If you are ranked 29 or below, the chances of getting into a higher tier even maybe hard. So this is what you should do:

The Wildcard Process
Wildcards are usually given to players from that country, defending champions, lower tier tournaments winners, and players who have solid results in tournaments (either top tier of lower tier)

Because we don't know how people will do in the future, this is the "written" process to get them, beacuse sometimes there will be extra WCs:

1) If you want to apply for the WC, in your commitments designate the events which you would like to try as a WC. As well as committing to the lower tier event.

*There are no limits to the amount of WCs as of now!

So it should look like this
Dec 31
Goldcoast (WC)
Auckland

Something like that!

Dec 31, 2002
Tier III Thalgo Australian Women's Hardcourt Championships (32)
Tier IV ASB Bank Classic (16)

Jan 7, 2002
Tier II Adidas Interntional (32)
Tier V Canberra International (8)
Tier V ANZ Tasmanian International (8)

Jan 14, 2002
Grand Slam Australian Open (Everyone, I'm still deciding whether or not to offer an event during the second week or something)

Jan 28, 2002
Tier I Toray Pan Pacific Open (32)
50K+H ITF Oretisei, Italy (16)

this is going to be hard for tammy and cris to commit to the same tournaments as tammy is ranked one in the world and cris is 39!!!

tammy is going to try her best to commit to as many tournaments where she can be with cris as possible!!!! its just that tammy will not be able to maintain her hold on the number 1 rank if she plays ITF and lower tiers all the time...

this schedule is subject to change if thats possible!

dec 31 - auckland
jan 7 - adidas international (cris: try to apply for a wildcard here )
jan 14 - aus open
jan 28 - pan pacific open ( please give cris a WC here as it is an asian tournie and the crowd won't be pleased with you brian if you don't give the asian star a wildcard! )
feb 4 - paris, france ( but tammy will play in the ITF tournament if cris cannot gain a WC entry )

sorry if that sounds a little confusing!

Because our numbers have swelled to 52 singles players as of now. Top tier events will reduce to 28 player draws and lower events will expand to 24 player draws.

That means if you're ranked 25 or lower getting into the top event might be harder. So those players should "apply" for the WCs.

I have decided that ITF Challengers will be a set 16 player draw, which means that the other event will expand to 32 player draw with qualifying!

*Remember bonus points will begin to take shape next year as well so people will begin to move rapidly through the rankings!

Oh I forgot to mention that there will only be two events in the second week, Adidas and ANZ Tasmanian International. Right now I'm thinking of upgrading Hobart to a Tier IV, as opposed to its current Tier V status.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.
