Let’s take a detailed look at the changes for the 2002 season.
CHOOSING THE TEAM
You can choose any combination of five tennis players without any limitation about their ranking. The rules about the player outside the top 20 and the maximum of three top 10 players have been cancelled. You can even pick the top 5 in the rankings, but considering a Tier V victory counts as a GS title, you don’t need to have big names in your team to score a good combination. My suggestion is to exploit more the lower tier tournaments.
TEAM CHANGES
You will be allowed to change your picks before each leg starts. Threads will be posted one or two weeks before the ongoing leg is over in order to let you make your choices. Of course, if you don’t make any substitution, the combination you had in the previous round will be brought to the following tournament without changes. Remember to check out the commitments to be sure all your players will regularly play in the following weeks.
THE TOURNAMENTS
Each Tennis Poker tournament will start and finish within the same leg. Only one round per leg made the tournaments to last so much that the first round losers had to wait months for playing again. So, the same leg’s combination will be used to decide the winner round by round for all the matches, and of course the poster with the best result will win the tournament. A qualifying round may be needed to fit the posters in a 8, 16 or 32 draw. Of course, the ranking will be considered to decide the seeds, while the remaining spots will be assigned to the ones who scored the best results. Considering the combination to decide the round results will be the same, there will may be very dangerous qualifiers floating in the main draw.
