Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2013!

Started the year with two heavy losses to Svitolina and Arn.

At least she won a match at the AO....

The happy smiley will probably be replaced with a sad one after the match.

Shahar will fall out of the top 100 today.

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2013!

Memphis R1 (1) Flipkens def Peer 6-2 6-2
Somehow this (yet another ) beatdown, Shahar's first match as a non top 100 player in 8 years, turned into some sort of a yearly or career summary, so I thought it should at least be linked here.

Of course there is nothing to cheer about in this cheering thread and it's becoming increasingly harder to see any light at the end of the tunnel (or bottom of the barrel).

P.S. the fact that no-one even said anything about Shahar's sub-forum being shut down last month says it all.

And two bigger TF threads after a much worse (yes, apparently that was possible) loss:
Florianapolis R1: Tereza Mrdeza (Q) crushes Shahar Peer 6-0 6-3
Shahar Peer's low point this week...

Playing Erakovic in Indian Wells. How many games will she be able to win this time?

I am guessing 4. Anything more than 6 would a huge surprise.

And quite an improvement too. Haven't seen her play in ages I must say (last time was against Goerges, which was fair enough), and I can't be bothered to look up stats on how she's playing, so I wonder what's she's doing so terribly wrong. I think it must be something mental rather than physical.

I've seen her play in Eilat.
It was like a roller coaster- ups and downs.
But actually, although she lost vs Aga and Cirstea, she played decent tennis.
Her main problem IMO is her service.

I think most of the games she won was braking the opponents serves.

This way she obviously can't win matches.

Does anybody know why and how she received a WC in IW?

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2013!

I don't know, but perhaps because of the (luke)warm relationship between Israel and the US? Can't think of a reason other than political.. Or did she have good results at this tournament in the past?

Anyway, she won the first set against Erakovic 6-3! I'm impressed, go Shahar!

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2013!

Don't be too optimistic. I'm not excited about a Shahar match for the first time in many years, I had and still have zero expectations.

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2013!

Well that's only for the better, Then she cannot disappoint you. She broke Erakovic and takes a 5-2 lead in the second.
After all the drama, this is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

Also, she hasn't lost serve the entire match. I'd say, Yesh atid.
