Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2012

There is no easy draw in her current form, and I don't know what exactly did "Boldman" expect her to get when she's unseeded.

Jeez she even got Tsurenko which is up and coming. Didn't Tsurenko beat Schiavone and Errani in straight sets lately in the Fed cup?
And is there a law against the usage of bold? If so how come they put a bold button?

The obvious is obvious, if Shahar wants to go up in the rankings she can't be reliant on miracle draws where she is constantly matched against players who are in poor form or random Wild Cards. She has to beat quality players and rarely lose to "up and coming" players. In keeping with the Purim story, perhaps she can perform a miracle and vanquish all her evil tennis opponents at Indian Wells.

Because she controls who she plays and how the draws play out?

That's true for sure. Shahar needs to raise her level and yes, fire another coach.

I'll try to explain to you publicly what I already did in PM two months ago, and I saw at least 3 people tell you here and on GM (there were probably more, I don't read most threads there):
Bold and Underline (and to a lesser extent, italics) are there to highlight the main point(s) of your post, not all of it.
Highlighting everything is considered bad netiquette, like writing in all caps (both are like "shouting").
And your response of "I'll do what I like" was immature to say the least, and was as logical as saying "I'll tone down if I feel like it" in a debate class. You're not alone here, and most of us, at least in this sub-forum, are a little older than you.
You should make your posts stand out by their content, not in this manner.

And regarding the need for a coach change, well, it took you some time, but welcome to reality. Hopefully Shahar will join too sooner than later.

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2012

Shahar is taking a vacation this week (probably to celebrate Passover).
Hope to see some wins in Barcelona.

I watched the match on streaming.

It was one of the ugliest I have seen in a long time.

The score 6-1 5-7 7-5 .

In the second set, after serving for the match, Petra froze completely, and served I think 3 DF to let Shahar back in the game and winning the set.

In the 3rd, Petra led 5-2. 40-0, and than she froze again, and let Shahar win maybe 7 points in a row, and at 5:5 Shahar started to freeze, and so Petra won eventually.

The amount of unforced errors from Shahar was unbelievable. She could not combine 2 normal points by herself.
Most points came from errors Petra performed.

Does anybody know who is the young coach who tried to direct her play?

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2012

Shahar did not freeze at 5-5. She was 5-5 40-0 up and choked it point after points (Petra really started pushing the balls too).
She had some nice winners but it was rare. Her "coach" is Karlis, a foremer Latvian "tennis player". He was ranked about 300 I think and he's a really bad advice giver: "hit the 1st serve as a 2nd", "hit the balls higher".
Just silly advices. She needs someone else to coach her.

He really said that to her?

She needs to get a steady coach who will help her be just as agressive as she was towards the end of the 09 season.

Yup she said something like "I don't know what to do Karlis" and she looked really frustrated. Then he told her to hit the first serve like the 2nd serve and hit the balls higher (he wants her to push).
It didn't work and then at 4-5 she started playing agressively and Cetkovska started hitting tones of errors.
I don't know what the scoreline would've been like if Petra played well throughout the whole match.
I'm just so dissapointed.

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2012

The biggest problem is that she's so dependent on some other person's advice mid match.
She cannot succeed in if she can't generally resolve problems on her own during a match.
The coach thing is a convenient excuse, a clutch that she can blame everything to, without having to take responsibility,
And even fooling others that "the problem is the coach"
She needs to take responsibility for her life and her game and stop acting like a baby.
She's no longer 18 y/o

Re: Shahar Cheering Thread 2012

Shahar gets a huge break in the draw at Bastad,Sweden. Sara Errani has withdrawn from the tourney and Shahar will face the winner of Craybas/Johhanson. Does anybody think that she can take advantage of this and break her second round losing streak?
