I've finally cleaned my room and trew away a lot of stuff, and among all the things I found was an old reaport on Anna's match from Rolland Garros dated from 5/26/98 (I'm not crazy... realy!):
Anna won in the first round (trandlated from "Yediot Aharonot")
Anna Smashnova, ranked 117 in the world, loves the Rolland Garros tennis courts in Paris. A few years ago she won the juniors chanpionships here, and today she opened the womens tournament with a good start, by beating the Latvian Larissa Nyland, ranked 43 places above her in the world rankings, 3-6 6-3 6-2.
Another happy thing for Anna is the suprise cuased by the Suiss player Emanuella Gagliardy (90), who beat the French player Natalie Tuziat (12), 4-6 7-5 6-4. Instead of playing against Tuziat, Anna will now meat Gagliardi in the 2nd round, with better chances of getting to the 3rd round.
If Anna wins in the next two round, and her possible opponents aren't from the top elite, her 4th round opponent could be, probubly, Martina Hingis!
I think I kept that newspaper because most of it was about my favorite basketball team winning the Iaraeli championships... But I was sure I trew it away a year or two ago. I guess I do need to clean my room more often.
