Israeli hopes for the future?

Are any of the juniors currently playing( Shlomo,Glushko etc.)showing any real promise for the future? Is Shahar Peer going to be alone in representing Israel in the top 100 after Tzipi Obziler retires?

Re: Israeli hopes for the future?

These days final rounds of the Israeli Cup are held.
Glushko, Keren and others are participating.
I think this month also the Israeli Championships Tournament will take place.

Regarding your second question, it's going to take a while until we hopefully will have another player in the top 100 ( this is true also for the men).

Re: Israeli hopes for the future?

Julia Glushko is very dedicated to the sport, she's been watching it most of her life and the majority of the time she's not playing or watching it she's reading books on it.

No doubt in my mind that she will be a top 100 player, but saying that she will pace herself (she doesn't want to burn out by age 20).

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

Re: Israeli hopes for the future?

Glushko is the only one I can think of, but she's really inconsistent, even to her level (The loss in the Orange ball)
So I really don't know.. Maybe we should wait to next generation from girls 14?
What do you think?

I never heard about an achievment by Agelika, and about Mishor and Astrugo, I don't think they have much potenisial since they too old to breaktrough into the top 1000..

I think you can add MASURI, Ester to this list. For the first time, she succeeded to advance to the second round of an ITF event,$25,000 Lagos, where she advanced as LL.

Hopefully we will hear more of her.

Yay, Angelika She is a great talent from what I heard.
I expected more from Astrugo and Shlomo by now, but who knows, maybe the breakthrough will come soon.

Re: Israeli hopes for the future?

Well, we have maybe another new prospect fot the future.
COHEN, Jessica ,born 1991 from France, ranked 672 in the Juniors, made Allyah and is playing in the Israeli Chanpionships this week.
Good luck to her.

And of course the comeback of Evgenia Linetskaya.
If she will be able to compete a whole year, she is the biggest hope for the next years to come.

Re: Israeli hopes for the future?

That's good for Angelika I hope she'll keep it up.

From the young girls I think Denise Hazaniuk (דניז חזניוק) can have a good future.
She isn't 13 yet, plays the national now she's in the 2nd round after beating Mihal Yogev in the 1st round, but the 2nd round is probably against Lintsakia..
She also reached the SF or the nationals for girls 16!
