The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

According to the YNET website, she has left Russia and will now live and play in Israel (She is Jewish). From now on she is trying to come back and play tennis after her injuries and she will represent Israel in the Fed Cup in the next years. she is now under care by Israeli federation- they have a plan for her recovery but it will take time, at least 2 or 3 months of practicing.

Here is the link (Hebrew) and some pics (from last Thursday):

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

And she's in the semis after beating Ksenia Pervak 26 76(1) 76(7)

if she at least wins one match in the 3rd tournament next week (which she has to, for her points to count in the rankings), she already clinched a place in the top 900.

I notice that she's still listed as representing Russia on the ITF website.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

that's because she is a Russian, and don't you think it's a little pathetic to get all excited about her becuase Israel has only ever produced one decent player of their own, the rest came from Eastern Europe and mainly as ready formed adult tennis players...nothing to get overly excited about i'd say.

according to ynet she was hoping to play in Las Vegas but probably she won't get a visa to the U.S. on time for that, but she will probably play Indian Wells.

probably. I mean she doesn't even have a ranking yet.
But it didn't say in the article, so I don't really know.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

Apparently she has a protected ranking of #90 for 8 tournies in the first year of her return. And she may use one for Indian Wells, but she's not sure yet if she'll go there or continue with smaller tournaments.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

According to ynet Linetskaya will not go to Indian Wells.
She got sick and didn't train for an entire week.

Probably will try to go in March to Emilia Island and Charlston
