Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

The Israeli news site NRG wrote on 14october that Evgenia has decided to quit professional tennis.

http://www.nrg.co.il/online/3/ART1/646/184.html

The reporter said that the her injuries were the main reasons for this decision. He also cited Israeli tennis officials saying that " she didn't practice seriously, and was having serious depression problems."

I only can hope that she will change her mind and will get back on track of professional training, after getting appropriate treatments.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

I thought that she was changing her status to an Israeli citizen? Is that over with and has she moved back to Russia?

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

None of us know what has happened, other than she was injured and returned too Russia for treatment.

As she is listed in the MD as Russian (92 LINETSKAYA, EVGENIA RUS SR 92 ) we have to assume she is back home again.

Good luck too her, and I hope she has a great comeback season. She deserves it.

I am very confused by this. Can a non-citizen play in the Israeli championship? If she is an Israeli citizen why is she listed as playing for Russia in the upcoming Australian tournaments?

I just looked it up- it says " no show ". Not sure if it's her or her opponenet, but I think I can guess.

it says "no show", but it is written like linetskaya is in the second round, so I think that her opponent hasn't showed up.

she will play against Ilana Agranovich that won her first round losing only one game.

Go Israel !

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

There are a few more "no shows" there, including the opponent of the seventh seed (Zhenya is the first seed).
I guess some of the participants withdrew just before the tournament.
