All the seeds are gone from this tourney. She should be the favorite in all her remaining matches.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

Well she has 4 points from this tourney. She either needs to reach the semifinals in one tourney , or reach at least the second round in 2 tourneys.

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

She had a ranking in '07. I don't think a re-entry would be much of a milestone.
Playing 10-15 tournaments till the end of the year would be, otherwise it's not a real comeback, it's a pastime.
She's only 25. At the very least, she should give Julia a run for her money as the Israeli No.2.

All that assuming everything is okay with her and she can concentrate on playing tennis.

A very late withdrawal - last out of 262 players - from a 10K in Bol (also Croatia; there was a WTA tourney there in the past).
Who knows why, and when and where she'll pop up again...

^
The same day of the qualies sign-in in Bol she played in the QFs in Hvar. Maybe she thought she might not make it and didn't want to pressure herself that way (she would have to lose on purpose to get to the Bol qualies in the last minute).
I think the fact she had to play 6-7 matches to get 4 points is pretty crazy (5 matches just to get 1 point).
It would be better for her to look for some less demanding qualies while she's rankless.

So far she doesn't seem to be on any acceptance list till the end of April.
We'll see if she pops up again in May (lists not available yet)

Re: The Evgenia Linetskaya Thread

Linetskaya has been appearing in the alternates list for a couple of weeks now, in 25k tournies in Moscow, without much chance to get into the draw.
My understanding of this is she got tired of the long road to entering the rankings through 10ks and is now trying her luck at an easier path. Maybe she's staying in Moscow with friends, hoping at the last minute a ready and available alternate is needed...?
This is a pretty bad sign, that she doesn't have the strength/persistence/ability to go the distance in 10ks to quickly enter the rankings in a "clean" way

Being 40th on an Alternate List seems to be a pointless exercise.
