She is going to play Tashkent next week, her second "regular" tour MD and the first time (of many ) she enters one on ranking, without having to play qualifiers.
Should be able to win a match against most players in the draw.

Shahar was scheduled to play there as well, but seems to have withdrawn.

Re: Julia Glushko

Thanks for the pics

Julia did her job against Q Arefyeva with a straight set win. This win would move her to about #90.
Tough R2 match against #7 seed Voskoboeva in a few hours.

Re: Julia Glushko

She shouldn't be playing that level of tournaments anymore, nothing below 50K (if at all).
She was scheduled to play the 100K in Poitiers (France) and I don't know why she withdrew her commitment there.

(1/wc)Julia Glushko (ISR) d. Nastja Kolar (SLO) 16 64 63

Not a very impressive score line. Her form has been off since after the US Open. Perhaps she needs to use this level of tournament to clear the rust from her system? She has Nanjing and Taipei(125K's) after this week.

Re: Julia Glushko

Julia loses in the second round at Nanjing.

Zhang Shuai def Julia Glushko 6-2 6-2

Another disappointing score line. Watched a little of the opening set on stream and saw nothing encouraging.

I watched the whole match. Julia has really, REALLY big weapons, but is much too inconsistent. She had better shots than Zhang, but didn't get enough balls in the court to make it a close match. Misses way too much. And she is a total hothead. Gets really mad at herself when she misses an easy shot (which happens somewhat often). If she can get more level-headed and can make more shots, she will be top 50, period. But until then, she will struggle to stay even in the top 100.

Sadly, if you go back several years on this thread, you will finds comments similar to yours over and over again.

True, but few believers that she would actually make the top 100 as opposed to just having the potential to do it.

As for the match itself, I couldn't watch it, but considering both player's forms I'd have been very surprised if Julia won. At least (courtesy of drawing a WC) she got past R1 in a 125K for the first time...

Re: Julia Glushko

Another bad loss at a 125K (this week at Taipei), 2-6 0-6 to Doi, who's supposed to be more or less at Julia's level.

Since the USO run, Julia hasn't beaten anyone inside the top-250, and in four matches against top 100 opponents, she hasn't taken more than 4 games each time

She finished last year in similar fashion, also after a great US hardcourt season.
Can't seem to play consistently outside of July-August.
