According to TBE Julia is still considered an alt. in the AO qualies even though she is entered in to the 25k main draw in China. Entry List (MD and QD list in post 1)
she's the 2nd in the alts list at the moment.
I'm sure this 25K in China was just a backup plan and she tanked it.
P.S. your signature needs a bit of an update, it now contains 2.5 (Harel is the half) retired players, unless by "Yalla" you wish them well in their next careers, in which case you can put Anna back there too
To celebrate Julia's slam debut - the first "washed up" day in Melbourne ever (first day completely cancelled by rain since they moved there in 1988).
Yesterday her game was listed as 4th in line on court 10, but now she'll be up first on court 13, so - assuming decent weather - is due to start in about an hour!
Julia won 6-1 4-6 6-2 :cheer2:
The opening set was won in 24 minutes and emphatic style. She broke quickly to start the 2nd but was broken right back, and didn't convert some break points later.
The key moment was in 3*-2 in the decider, when she face 4 BPs (starting with 15-40) and saved them all to hold on to her break lead. She then led 0-40, Soler Espinosa got back to 30-40 but Julia took her final BP and easily served for the match.
66% first serves, 8 aces to 3 DFs are nice numbers
The game to determine her opponent in Q2, Llagostera-Vrljic, is about to start.
