Re: Julia Glushko

Julia had a terrible loss in Atlanta $10,000 ITF to a player ranked 889 in the world.

Nelson/Glushko 1-6 6-4 6-0

Re: Julia Glushko

Her opponents' ranking is a little distorted because she only played 6 tournaments in the past 12 months, but even if she'd been ranked 550, this is a bad loss anyway.

Technical question: Julia was listed as top seed in the entry list (for the first time in her career, I believe), her ranking has improved and the 2nd player listed had dropped, so how were they seeded the other way around in the draw?

Putting together my previous post and yours, Julia has never even been close with any top 200 player, besides beating Palkina last August en route to her best career result so far - 50K semi during the Olympics, but the latter is one of the weakest players ever to enter the top 200.
Taking a set from Dubois, or even losing something like 4-6 5-7, would be a step forward in proving that she can deal with some WTA girls.
I was wrong of course in the first part The first one was Mashona Washington in the opening round of the Carson 50K challenger in which she lost to Granville.
I'm still waiting for the second part to change... Tetrault is quite talented, winning 3 titles lately and at the end of last year as a #500 WC at Quebec beating Mathilde Johansson in straights and losing a 3rd set TB to Mattek.

This is stepping it up... She's the last direct entrant (lowest ranked other than WCs).
Haynes is inconsistent even compared to these levels (see her IW perfomance as opposed to all other showings this year), if Julia plays her best there's a chance for her second top-200 win.

Re: Julia Glushko

I have no idea where my optimism was coming from...
She is so not ready for this level. As said, to begin with, still waiting for her to take a set from a real top 200 player.

In a previous post( which I deleted) I indicated That Julia was in the qualifier in Vancouver. That draw is out and she is not listed, so I assume that she has been bumped up to the main draw

Re: Julia Glushko

A good comeback win, but also a good draw, which sets up a second match in less than a month against Dubois.
Will it be closer this time around?

It better be. Unless Julia is independently wealthy, I don't see the point of playing in this part of the women's tour without showing steady improvement. She needs to start beating players ranked in the 100-200 range pretty soon or she might want to reconsider the emotional and financial cost of continuing on the tour.
