US OPEN goes Polish 2013:
On Saturday, August 24, 2013 Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York hosted a players’ party for some of this year’s US OPEN top tennis stars in its splendid Beaux Arts De Lamar Mansion.
We entertained 13 players from Poland and of Polish descent, including the 2012 Wimbledon finalist, and 2013 Wimbledon semifinalist, current number four in WTA Ranking, Agnieszka Radwańska, and her sister Urszula Radwańska. The famous Polish doubles Mariusz Fyrstenberg & Marcin Matkowski, Alicja Rosolska, Paula Kania and Katarzyna Piter, Jerzy Janowicz & Łukasz Kubot of Poland, who played a memorable quarterfinal at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, also participated in the event.
Apart from Polish players, the US OPEN 2013 GOES POLISH Gala also gathered players of Polish descent, among them Angelique Kerber and Sabine Lisicki of Germany, Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark as well as Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada.
