Re: Sabine Lisicki Cheering Thread

A few Years ago she hated Gras and now it's her favorit surface, so there is a tiny bit of hope

very unfortunate truth

grass specialist? what if she plays top player every year in early rounds when she could not get seeded because her other result sucks so badly?

maybe the huge pressure in singles is just too intimidating for her to handle right now

Yes, I think this could be Sabine's major problem. She gets stressed under pressure and it impacts on her game. In 2011 she had an amazing run, but she was relaxed because she had virtually no points to defend from the injury ravaged 2010, everything she done was a bonus. However, this year she had massive points to defend, she also had the additional weight of expectation from her fans and her sponsors, and that's tough to deal with

Re: Sabine Lisicki Cheering Thread

Apologies for asking what may seem a ridiculous question, but I notice many of you have enjoyed talking about Sabine's progress for many years. Have any of you had evidence of Sabine, or members of her team, reading this forum? I'm referring to comments that may have annoyed her

Re: Sabine Lisicki Cheering Thread

Don't know of any evidence that Sabine or her team reads this forum and I doubt she would ever comment if she did.

I agree that this thread gives a good history of her career the last seven years. Not only was she inconsistent at 15 and 16, but she also had her share of injuries, with fans asking "where is Sabine" followed a while later with "I'm just glad she's alive." While it seems like some things never change, I do see hope that her game has improved and can keep improving. It certainly hasn't been a continous linear progression, but last year from Birmingham to the U.S. Open she was dominant with only a couple of hiccups. That shows what she is capable of if she can get her health and confidence -- no easy task as we are constantly reminded.

^i do hope bine has a feedback loop of candid truth-telling people in real life, people around her know her best, at least much better than i do, everything else is secondary, who cares if i cheer for her or not? no one takes the mindless internet seriously

Re: Sabine Lisicki Cheering Thread

Still hasn't asked for a WC, so her next Tourney will be Tokyo, she should maybe change those people around her, because this is just stupid, they should know she will lose first round without more matches to prepare.

I don't get what she's doing it's illogical to constantly say "i need more matches blabla" just to make another huge break !?

Re: Sabine Lisicki Cheering Thread

The reason I asked the question, is because she appears to be an emotional woman who gains strength from being loved and not being criticised. If there was a sub-forum of a website purely devoted to me, I wouldn't be able to stop myself reading it, and something tells me she'd also be like that. I just wondered if in the 7 years of Sabine chat, that somebody within her close circle had reacted to an unfair, or rather harsh comment

And she had never great results in big WTA tournaments, so we shouldn't expect a QF in Tokyo or Beijing. Nothing to defend in Tokyo, but R2 in Beijing.

Nobody knows who made the decision to play no tournament before Tokyo but probably she herself, so no reason to blame her surrounding for.

She made off pretty quiet from NY, perhaps for some intense secret practise at a sunny place
