I really like Nastya's chances against Chanda.

Chanda hasn't been playing great really for the past few months, and if Nastya just remains consistent, I think she'll win.

Then, she'll face Kim again... and unfortunately, they're not playing in Leipzig, so Nastya will be dismissed rather easily.

Funny, funny match, with all little gamesmanship in it.

Yes !!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew it
Wow, that's just great !!!
Nastya showed young Sharapova who is the best in Russia But she said it was really nervous match anyway
Thanks Nastya !!!!!!!

A. MYSKINA/M. Sharapova

6-4, 1-6, 6-2

An interview with:

ANASTASIA MYSKINA

Q. How did you find that match?

ANASTASIA MYSKINA: Right now I feel great. During the match, it wasn't kind of really good because I was really nervous.

Again, when two Russians play, it's always kind of nervous match. I know that was not really the best match today, but I really happy that I won.

Q. Had you played her before?

ANASTASIA MYSKINA: No, that was the first match ever.

Q. And what sort of things will you be working on before your next match?

ANASTASIA MYSKINA: I play Chanda, I guess. I play her here last year, same round. We know each other really well. Just know I have to do best things on the court. Just have to put pressure on her and definitely have to serve better. Just fight for every point.

Q. Can you talk a little bit about her game, what it was like playing against Sharapova?

ANASTASIA MYSKINA: I believe Maria, she not played that good today. I think she was really nervous, yeah, as me. I just, you know, had no idea the way she play. Just knew she hit the ball pretty hard.

But I just had to put the ball better, you know, one more shot than her.

For Chanda I'm pretty sure Nastya can beat her. She isn't in her best form right now, even had to play three tight sets with Svensson in first round.
And I guess Nastya should be less nervous, because she is most nervous when she plays Russian...If she will play well and will be focused through the whole match she will win

Nastya and Rubin have split 4 matches. Nastya won the last one here, 6-1 in the third last year.
Rubin didn't win a set in Hong Kong singles. The other three are out of this tournament.
It shows how meaningless exhibition results are.

I'm glad girls kissed each when they shaked hands... with all the tension in this match, it's good for them to aknowledge each other.

And this was an important match. IMG is telling the tennis media that Maria is the most talented Russian, and belittling everything Nastya has accomplished.
Anyone who heard Tracy Austin at the US Open knows this.
And just like last year when Lena D. won back to back tournaments, Nastya met the challenge in front of her, and fought, and competed. And succeeded.

Great win for Nastya! But, I really was disappointed in the second set, I was glad she was able to keep her cool (kinda) in the third set and win!
Didn't Tracy Austin say that she doesn't think Nastya will ever make it to the top 5? Well, she's dead wrong!!!!
GOOOOOOO Anastasia!!!

Yep, she doesn't know what she is saying

It just makes me mad when I read on board when Maria's fan say that 'all the experts' say Maria will be #1 in the future but Anastasia not...
For me it's bullshit, you never know that. I don't know if Nastya can be no.1 but she definitely can make top 5 ranking and I really belove in it. She is getting betetr and better. As for comparission Masha and Nastya, Maria from the beginning had this luck to train in one of the best tennis academy and she had money to go to many tournament. Nastya had to deal with one guy to give her needed money and then give it back, so her tennis way was ,much more tougher..
Now she is showing how she really is able to play
Go and kick some butts there Nastya !!!

Nastya shouldn't speak English in her interviews, until she learns to speak it better... she can easily get in trouble with the media hounds, nowadays.

Nastya will definitely reach Top 5 in the world by Miami, after Serena and Jennifer have to defend all their points.

I agree. Nastya will be in the top 5 this spring.
I'd like to see Nastya play Kim next week. Maybe Kim's not 100% healthy. Who knows.
First, a tough match with Rubin.

Kim's results this week suggests that she's healthy.

Nastya won't beat Kim this week. Nothing wrong with another fine QF performance.

With Venus out, that Kim match is like a semifinal. I hope Nastya gets there.
It could be the biggest match of Nastya's career.

Nastya will get by Chanda, if she doesn't implode. The Kim match would be important.

I wouldn't say the ensuing SF match would be a given, however. The way Lisa played last night would be very tough for Nastya to defeat.
