Well, they lost byt the most important thing is that Nastya could play three matches not in that important tournament, check her form and get used to matches. She played two great player to which she lost but for sure playing with Amelia and Lindsay was great preparation for Sydney. As she said the real tennis will start this week and she got some match-rythm. It was very needed week for her and I'm full of hope for Sydney ! Go Nastya !!!!

I saw all three matches. Mauresmo and Davenport are top players. And Strycova plays a wild game, with a lot of winners and UE's.
It should be good preparation for Sydney.

Yeah, Nastya did great job even losing these two matches. In Sydney I think it will be much more better. Nasya is great player

Nastya starts 2004 in Sydney against Lisa Raymond. They last played in 2002 Zurich, with Nastya winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Udachi Nastya! Now it counts.

According to the report, she was up a break in the 2nd set and was also leading 5-1 in the 3rd. She is still having her lapses in concentration, I guess.

But a win is a win

Davai, Nastia, keep going

Nastya was really pissed off today. She won first set easily hitting winners from everywhere. I don't know what happened in the next two, probably she wasn't focused anymore. She was talking in russian to hersalf ( :P). But important is that she won. It was first match in WTA tourament so it's really important. Now she will play either Patty or Amanda.

Myskina's attitude on court might let her down sometimes, but I am sure she will do much better next match. She said her main goal is not Sydney but AO. Good luck, Myskina.

It's good to start the year with a win. Nastya is going to get a great seeding in Melbourne. And I want her to get at least to the quarters. So this week is preparation.
It's a long year. I think Nastya will improve with each match.

Yep, she can go to quarters if she will be playing well. But there will have to play one of top 4 seeded. This week can tell a lot, anyway
Good luck Nastya !!!

Nastya plays Coetzer, who beat Nastya 6-2, 6-4 in Eastbourne last summer.
Time for revenge. Udachi Nastya!

Nastya and Vera lost their doubles to Krizan/Srebotnik.

But now Nastya can concentrate on singles and really play her best. My friend told me that she was smiling a lot during her practice but was also very intensive with it.
She plays her second round tomorrw and she will meet Coetzer. I think it will be tough match because Nastya has never like players like her, Martinez, Pistolesi that returns almost every ball. But she is much better player and I belive she wil lwin
C'mon Nastya !!!!!!!!

I was hoping Nastya and Vera would become a good team. Vera needs an older successful partner, as someone to watch, and learn from. And Nastya is perfect for that.
Now for this week, it's just singles for the Russian #1.
I'll think she'll beat Coetzer this time.
