Nastya plays Strycova in 20 minutes. Russia has to beat the Czech Republic to have a chance to win the Hopman Cup.

Nastya won the first set 6-3, in 25 minutes. Strycova just goes for winners. And makes a lot of UE's. Nastya is moving her around.
Marat plays Novak afterwards. Then mixed. Russia has to win 6 sets to 0 to stay alive for tomorrow's tie with the USA to be meaningful.

Nastya won 6-3, 7-6(0). The second set was long and sloppy. Both players made many, many UE's.
Nastya can learn from this. No matter how your opponent tries to slow the pace, or break your rhythm, you have to stay focused on every shot. And Nastya didn't.
Fred Stolle said Nastya serves with her arm, not her body. He said that was Hingis' weakness. He also said Nastya hits her forehand off the back foot too often.
Now Safin plays Novak. Then mixed.

Russia won't make the finals, so Nastya plays her last singles match in about 10 hours against Davenport.
I'd like to see Nastya stay focused. And to be a little steadier in every aspect of her game.
Next week, it counts. Udachi Nastya!

I hope that's true. But the tv commentators say different.
Marat and Nastya are not a good mixed team.

Whether Russia can reach the final does not really matter for me. I just want Myskina to win against Lindsay. I think she has improved a lot lately. Keep rising Myskina.

The match starts in about 40 minutes. I hope Nastya continues raising her game more and more. Sydney will have some tough players.
Nastya has a lot of points to defend this month.

Davenport beat Nastya 6-4, 6-4. Nastya was broken in her first two service games. And in the second set, was down 5-2.
Nastya played well in all three matches. But not in a way that would win Leipzig and Moscow.
It's a long year, and Nastya had three exhibition singles matches to prepare for Sydney.
It's time to play for real. And to hold serve.
Udachi Nastya!

I think Myskina's style is similar to Hingis's. When it comes to power, sometimes, she cannot handle it. Dapenport is such a powerful player. Myskina can match up with Justine and Momo, but it would be more difficult for her to handle the Williams, Kim, and maybe Jenn. Anyway, this tournament benefits her. She has played great players so far. I do hope she will do well in Sydney and AO. Go Myskina
