Nastya plays Mauresmo in about 7 hours.
I can't wait to see the Russian # 1 back on court to start 2004.
Udachi Nastya!!

France won the Hopmans Cup tie 2-1. Santoro is a tremendous doubles player, and he went at Nastya almost all the time. Nastya was not happy in the second set of mixed, which France won 6-3, 6-4.
In singles, Nastya was up 4-1 in the second set but lost to Mauresmo.
But it was a good return for Marat. Nastya has to remember that it's just the start of 2004. Wins will start coming.

Well, that's not good that Nastya lost but Mauresmo i great player. That's pity they didn't won doubles too but I think Nastya isn't so good doubles player and Amelie and Santoro are great volleyers. So I hope she and Marat can win with Czech Republic now. It should be easier match. And then USA will be tough but they can win it too. So France would have to loose one time.
Good luck Nastya in secong round !!! You can do it !!!

It was a very difficult way to start the year for Nastya. In the mixed, Santoro hit to Nastya dozens of times, she just couldn't handle his attacking game.
Mauresmo is a very good player. Now Nastya needs to win some matches.

So that had to be really hard. Santoro should have fight with Marat more, not with poor Nastya Ican imagine how it was hard for her. But Good luck later Nastya !!!

Not only was Nastya playing the world's # 4, but Mauresmo just played two exhibition matches in Belgium. She was more ready for this.
Nastya played well. She won several points with her down the line first serve. Mauresmo was able to attack some of Nastya's second serves.
In the doubles, Santoro was the best volleyer. And he kept the pressure on Nastya.
But this is an exhibition that gives Nastya three singles and doubles matches to prepare for Sydney and Melbourne.
And Nastya won't be playing # 4 in the first round anymore.
Udachi Nastya!

Yeah, that's true. It will definitely help her. Mauresmo lost her exhibition match to Sharapova so it's not anything bad that Nastya lost to world's #4 her first season match.
And please tell, how was Nastya's serve? Is she more confident with that or second is light like it was before?

Mauresmo was able to attack some of her second serves. Her serve was okay. There were a lot of long, well played games. The score was 6-2, 7-6(2).
But Nastya was serving at 4-2, 30-30. It was a close second set. I think Nastya needed the first set. Mauresmo lost her first set in Belgium 6-1.
I'll see Nastya's second match tomorrow night. In about 29 hours. She plays Strycova.

That's so cool for you that you can see her. I am missing her a lot
But I am pretty sure she will beat Strycova. The match with Mauresmo was close and it was her first one, so really it gives lot of hope.
I think that she will win now and then we will know much more when she will play Davenport, cuz she will be bigger challenge.
Thanks for reporting goldenlox. I hope I could see her...

I want to give the correct times. Nastya will play Strycova in 51 hours. That's Wednesday night for me. And Nastya plays Davenport in 75 hours. Friday night in New York.

I've only seen Strycova play once. About 12 hours ago against Davenport.
I thought she looked really good. Good serve, good power, good placement, decent movement.
I think she's going to have an excellent career on the tour.
She plays Nastya tomorrow night. I'll have a report on that match.
