Exclamation Michael Jackson News

It seems that television station CBS is getting jealous of the ratings that ABC's 20/20 is getting from all the Jackson exclusives so they have done the following:

Ed Bradley of "60 Minutes" will tape an interview with Michael which will air this Sunday at 7:00 (or after football, depending on what part of the country you live in).

The music special that was supposed to air the day before Thanksgiving will now air the first week in January.

Due to him agreeing to the "60 Minutes" interview, he has canceled his trip to London and will agree to give his passport back to the Santa Barbara DA ASAP.

If the boy is indeed being used by his parents (who I understand trained their kids to shoplift), it's a shame that having cancer, he may not have the chance to make any other mark in life.

Michael Jackson to Break Silence on '60 Minutes'

By DAVID BAUDER, AP

NEW YORK (AP) - CBS' "60 Minutes" will air an interview with pop superstar Michael Jackson on Sunday, marking Jackson's first public comments since his Nov. 20 arrest on suspicion of child molestation.

Ed Bradley interviewed Jackson for about 30 minutes Thursday at a hotel in Los Angeles, CBS spokesman Kevin Tedesco said Friday.

Jackson, 45, is charged with seven counts of performing lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under 14 and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent. He remains free on $3 million bail.

CBS also announced Friday that it has rescheduled a Jackson music special that had been abruptly postponed last month after the molestation charges surfaced. The special, "Michael Jackson Number Ones," will air on Friday, Jan. 2, CBS entertainment spokesman Chris Ender said.

"We certainly wouldn't have rescheduled the entertainment special if he hadn't addressed the situation elsewhere on our network," Ender said.

Jackson's last television interview, with British journalist Martin Bashir, was seen by 27 million people on ABC last February. But that interview so infuriated the Jackson camp that they made Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe available to deny some of the things said in the Bashir special.

Bradley had been pursuing an interview with Jackson even before the molestation charges. The CBS newsman traveled to Jackson's Neverland estate last February for an interview, but Jackson got cold feet and canceled it at the last minute.

The CBS entertainment special had been set to air the day before Thanksgiving, to coincide with the release of a greatest hits package. Besides Jackson performance footage, interviews had been conducted with Dick Clark, Beyonce Knowles, Mary J. Blige and others about Jackson's impact on pop culture.

Am I the only one that thinks its frankly appalling that an accused criminal is allowed to bargain for tv airtime in a matter like this in order to (one would assume) attempt to win over public opinion before a trial?

I'm not making assumptions about his guilt either; this whole case is somewhat dubious to say the least - but it just goes to show how money can affect your experience of the judicial process.

True, but both sides are doing it...and the media are feeding like vultures. It's not as if everyone else is shutting up and just Jacko trying to prejudice the public. In the circumstances, I don't blame him for aiming at the court of public opinion.

How there can ever be a fair trial (fair to everyone, not just Jacko) is totally beyond me.

Micheal has not been convicted yet. The media will milk him dry and he is willing to oblige. People should be disgusted with the media and their practice, not Michael.
