Avalanche of virused emails..

That is what I am getting right now since yesterday. I am getting about 10 infected emails an hour, with that latest worm under a mask of Microsoft Security patch. Of course, my ISP cleans it, so what I eventually receive is harmless. Yes, the avalanche goes, it is annoying, I can not filter it out, because emails addresses are fake, subject lines are changing all the time. And I have no clue what has triggered this avalanche at the first place. Anyone experienced anything like that?

....This is fucked up, fucked up....

This is your blind spot, blind spot.
It should be obvious, but it's not.

You cannot kickstart a dead horse
You just crush yourself and walk away
I don't care what the future holds
Cause I'm right here in your arms today
With your fingers you can touch me

I'll be your black swan, black swan
I'm for spare parts, broken up.

Yeah, ys, DecLove recognized something (even "intuitively") that you didn't: Microsoft DOES NOT send out "security patches" by e-mail (I also got that and simply deleted it, BTW). The Windows Update logo notifies you that "new updates are available" if you choose them manually, or downloads them automatically if you chose that option. So, tovarisch, while I find fault with Gates & Co. over security lapses, this wasn't one of them. You got suckered (or as Da Boi would say, yuo=owned)!

There is a short circuit between two of your lonely separated brain cells. Otherwise I would not have to ask you how does it follow from what I wrote that I "fell for the fake blah"..

It's free world, I guess it is possible to teach even a monkey to type on a keyboard of a computer. And now JollyRoger got one..

As posted above, I got the same e-mail too with a subject line about Microsoft security patch and an attachment symbol. I deleted it and had no problem. And unlike the Blaster Worm that MANY members here posted about weeks ago and made worldwide news, this time it seems to have affected only you. Is the monkey's logic clear enough now?

No, the monkey didn't understand the problem. The problem is not what to do with the email ( simply because ISP takes cares of it ,making it harmless ). The problem is how to prevent those emails from being received at all.For instance, I can write a simple program that will be sending them to you, 50 emails a minute, using a different fake sender email address each time ( so you can't killfile it ). You will be very tired of having to delete thousands of emails an hour. Whether you open them or not. What would monkey's logic say about that? That was the original question, if it is not clear for anyone not intellectually challenged..

OK, truce. I DID get a fake e-mail with an attachment that said "Microsoft Security Patch" in the subject line and deleted it unopened (yesterday, BTW). While it was clearly "not kosher", it may not have been related @ all to whoever is attacking your e-mail address. You probably just need to change yours and inform people. Sorry for carrying other spats into this unrelated issue.

Truce.

It's not that simple. It's my "name" email address, which is everywhere - from my friends overseas to all billing systems that I use. And there is no guarantee that the same would not happen with another address.

At the moment I am just populating the killfile with every subject line of incoming emails. So I'll see whether it is effective or not.
