The "WORLD CUP 2002" thread

Who do u guys think will win the world cup in Japan/South Korea, i reckon that it will be out of France or Argentina because their squads are just strong all round.

I can't wait for it it will be FUCKIN BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm upset that australia didn't make it

but the only satisfaction i'll get out of it is that uruguay loses all it's games at the WC

I just love the French squad. I hope they repeat the '98 feat. I also hope Sweden, Dennmark Cameroun and the US go beyond the quaters. Teams I'd absolutely hate to perform well are all other European teams.

what about the lovely belgium huh???

btw: it's either France or Argentina that will win. France is the topfavourite, closely followed by Argentina. I expect England to surprise and be close. Normally Brazil will get to the semi's too.

Don't think France will win. If they do, they'll be lucky winners (like in their semi-final against Portrugal in Euro 200).

French have good squad, but I don't think that goals will be as easy to come by as they would imagine.

England will beat France in the quarters. (I think that's who we draw if we finish second).

Will all the economic problems in Argentina effect the football team? Could do, although I doubt it. They're my pick.

hey thefreedesigner, you actually think France got lucky against Portugal? Well, while I think individually, Portugal had more flair, France was really efficient in that game and they deserved to win, ( at least, to me). I think they got lucky against Italy though.

w.r.t. the world cup, I won't be surprised if France doesn't win, but I hope they do. Otherwise, Cameroun, Sweden or Dennmark should. I can dream, can't I?

Per4ever, show me a Brian Laudrop or a Brolin in the Belgian squad, and I'll root for Belgium. I like flair, y'see.

France have a great midfield and attack, I'm not denying that.

I just think that oppositions are going to be very defensive-minded against them (except England who can't defend ) and that they may struggle to really play fluently and score goals.

Just my thoughts... all good things must come to an end.

Who ever comes 2nd in England/Argentina's group will knock out France in 2nd rd

Lucky Brazil have such an easy group , had they been swapped around with Argentina, they might not have qualifyied

Just hoping we come 1st in our group and we beat Belgium

My Tip : Argentina

Good luck in 2016 to my favs

Barthez is not always great..but he's there in those absolute topmatches...

And looking at their strikers: Henry (one of the best strikers in england), Trezeguet (one of the best in Italy atm), Wiltord, Anelka.. midfield is superb with Zinedine Zidane and all those others...

Defense is not the best..but not bad either...

i know they both retired, but its their skills and flair which has gotten me rooting for their countries till today. Testament to their skills. Always been for Denmark and Sweden since '92.
