Misconceptions/Stereotypes about your country

What are some common things that you find foreigners don't know about your country?
What are some of the stereotypes about your country that you encounter from tourists/visitors etc.?

I'll start:
Country: Canada
A few facts:
  • we don't all live in igloos
  • it doesn't snow all year round. (There is a summer season)
  • We aren't all Francophones

I'm sure my fellow Canucks can add more...
but I'd like to hear about other misconceptions from other countries too

most don't wear wooden shoes
most don't have a cap on their head and wear a costume
most don't live in a mill
and not everybody has tulpen in the garden either (but then I don't even have a garden)

it's not true that we are all money addicted either

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

Believe me, that's not a misconception people have about the US.

What exactly do you mean? Do you mean that not many people think that or do you mean that we really do have a lot of money in the US?

We don't all speak French (and those who Dutch don't all speak with an Antwerp accent )
We're not boring
We do love good food, good beer, good wine,...
