Programming/Development/CS Thread

This is the official programming and development thread. You don't have to be a programmer to post, artists and those that are simply interested in learning how to code are more than welcome too!

What are you working on today? What are your tools of choice? Got ideas with no motivation? Got problems and want help? Want to get into the industry? Feeling new and don't know where to go? This is the place for you.

So share what you want and have fun!

I want to develop an app (for Android first), so do anyone here have an idea which tool is the best currently for Androd Apps development?

Thanks in advance)

Re: Programming/Development Thread

One project I'm currently working on (very slowly) is to develop an automatic rigging system for Autodesk Maya using Python and MEL. The system will generate bipedal rigs but I'm hoping that when I'm finished with it a decade later, to extend it to cover quadruped rigs too.

Not really a project but in my own time I'm also doing an introduction to cryptography, again using Python for programming.

I tried to learn HTML/CSS but few months later and I'm still stuck with CSS. I don't know why but I can't seem to grasp the whole layout and positioning of elements. It's doing my head in to be honest. I don't know whether I'm dense but me and CSS don't get along so well.

Android development requires knowledge of Java. So you should first looking into getting a solid foundation in that. http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/l...a--mobile-2604

Then you can move onto the Android Development. You can get a lot of good stuff straight from the Android website. http://developer.android.com/trainin...ndex.html?hl=p

Tutsplus seems to be a pretty good site for mobile tutorials

Re: Programming/Development Thread

Time to bring this thread back!!!! I would like to do a weekly programming challenge, some coding problem I think of. Would any posters be interested in this? We could take turns creating questions too!

And I would love for people to share what they're working on, at work, at home, etc.
