Arrow Australian Idol

Did anyone watch this?

Ddi anyone see the girl in the bunny outfit (a la Bridget Jones), LOL! That was so funny and so embarassing. I can't believe she made a scene when she didn't get in.

What about that Indian girl who was claiming she wasn't going to let the judges get the satisfaction of making her feel bad, yet she was on the brink of tears?

But I hate the judges anyway, I agree with them. Only Marcia has any sort of talent whatsoever. The other two are bums.

yeah i watched it, i knew someone who tried out so i wanted to see if they were on, but they weren't. Didn't think they would be coz she didn't make it though

Yeah those judges pffft

Some of the people that try out for these things though... seriously what possesses them?? There were just too many people who were really, really bad to point out

Was a bit boring last night, hopefully it will get better as it goes on

Sorry, but I'm defending Dicko. Some of those people had no right going to those auditions. Most of them had nothing. I even question some of the "talent" that they let through to the next round. Dicko is there to represent the industry from the business point of view. If he has no faith in their talent, their looks or their personality, then he has to say so and he has to weed them out. What they're doing isn't fun and games. It's a business where they need people with talent and strong personalities who won't crack under the slightest pressure. There's millions of dollars riding on the winner. They're looking for someone who can sell a product. If they're screwing up now, wait until they release their music and it gets rubbished by anonymous strangers on live television. If they can't live through that, they won't be surviving the music industry. There are hundreds of people like Dicko and not all of them will restrain themselves as much as he has.

I hate Dicko, but I don't disagree with what he has to say. I don't envy his position either. Aside from him, there's Marcia and Mark. They say that "those who can't act, teach." Similarly, "those who can no longer sell an album to appease their record companies, rip others to shreds to make up for the hurt of being tossed aside like a piece of industry rubbish."

Bump! The top 40 is now determined.

At this stage, the only one I like (for singing) is Cle.

Some of the boys are cute though.

honestly, there are only a few imo that have the look of a popstar or that could have the look. and really what is the point of letting someone through if they don't have any chance in winning. like the judges have said you just slide through by the skin of your teeth. well if they have trouble in the early rounds then they don't have much of a chance. i did think they should have let that guy who spoke the other language through. he had the singing talent and had a pretty good look. if he is going to go inernational does he really have to have english spoken songs? what about all those stars like ricky martin and christina aguilera who sing in spanish and english. why not start him off in his native tough while he learns english and then he'll be able to do both.

anyway i'm not really into this show to much so i guess it doesn't really matter what i think.

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
and good luck russians: dementieva, safina, kirilenko, sharapova, kuznetsova, bovina, zvonareva, dushevina.

also good luck to: azarenka, lucic, sprem, vakulenko, vaidisova, safarova, ivanovic, groenefeld, mirza, krajicek, kvitkova, larcher de brito, lisicki.

Yeah that was a very poor decision. He was probably the best male singer out there.

Which is why this competition sucks, but it's a good watch anyway.

Cleonie Wooton (aka Cle)... Does anyone remember that old kids' TV show, "Ship To Shore?" It was filmed on Garden Island, off the coast of Western Australia. Cle played 'Babe,' the rebellious newcomer to the island. Her character on the show was also a singer. 'Babe' won a recording contract and left the show.

Dicko said he thought Cle was snotty and gave him attitude. Truth is, that's how she is in real life. She's always been an arrogant snotty brat, hence why she hasn't had any acting gigs since she was canned from "Ship To Shore." No one wants to work with an unfriendly, little twat. Her singing rocks but her attitude stinks. Don't get too attached.

I don't like that fat bastard on the show either. Is it me, or are they trying to turn him into a success story like they did with Ruben Studdart on American Idol? For starters, his voice isn't that great. It's loud and he can carry a tune but he's empty. I wouldn't pay to watch him perform. He's better suited to doing stand-up comedy.

There's another fatty that's copied UK Idol's Gareth Gates down to a tee. Funny, but I thought the purpose of the show was to find someone who demonstrates originality. There are some others, mostly guys, who I don't think belong there. They don't have strong voices, nor do they have the looks to be an Idol.

The girls fare a whole lot better. I see at least five promising female performers who could end up as the last remaining Idol. I can't remember their names to save my life, but I will when I watch the Top 40 show I recorded off the telly tonight. Of the guys, I can only remember Stu Campbell from Brizzy, and I like him, but Dicko think he's all over the place vocally.

I don't know what to make of the drag queen. They didn't like him as a guy, but I think he looks artificial as a chick. The voice-over guy tried to convince us that no one could tell that he was a guy in girls clothing, but come on, how many people were fooled? The voice wasn't the best but the judges are keeping him there because, as they said, they "can't keep their eyes off him." Gee, I wonder why? Could it be because they think he looks like a FREAK!? I swear, the judges are masking their confusion by accepting the drag queen.

One of the Top 40 finalists is 19-year-old Brielle Davis. Does she look familiar to anyone else? I recall that she was the same girl that released a couple of CD's about six years ago. She was the Nikki Webster of her day before the real Nikki Webster came along. Her music didn't really catch on back then and she soon disappeared. I guess she's making a comeback.

Yep, Brielle Davis is the one. I didn't think anybody would be allowed to audition if they already had a record deal in the past?

I agree, danker. It's not really fair to the others. I remember the rules from 'Popstars' was that contestants must not have signed or been under a recording contract within the last five years. I'm assuming 'Australian Idol' has similar rules.

This week viewers vote for their favourite out of eight performers. The top two favourite singers will go through to the next round. I can only remember Veronica, Eli, Peter and Shannon at the moment. There's also a blonde guy, a blonde chick, and someone else I can't recall.

I like Veronica. I hope she gets through. The blonde guy is my second pick. The others do nothing for me.
