Guinea pig problems

My little sister got a Guiea Pig for hier birthday but he's really shy. I've been trying to make him a bit more friendly and less shy and scared. Anyone here got guinea pigs and tips?
(BTW the reason the gp is so stressed is becuase he came from a Guinea pig farm, which we didn't know about when we got him.)

Nibbler (the gp) has started to come over to us now and he likes to nibble my fingers. I can't work out if he's trying to show affection to me or warn me off without hurting me??

He's trying to show affection.

Caress him. Massage him. Make him feel loved.

Wrap him in a warm blanket during the winter and sleep with it. It will love it.
