In San Francisco, the median rental price for an apartment reached $3,295 in June 2013. During this most recent quarter in San Francisco, a one bedroom will cost you $2,795, a two bedroom $3,875, and a three bedroom $4,750.

all SF needs is an earthquake to bring the prices down.

edit: ok not as bad as NYC now but still pretty high - http://blogs.sfweekly.com/thesnitch/...isnt_cheap.php

it's because there are laws preventing development in certain areas D: it's a really beautiful city though...

Re: Moving to New York in a few months...

Here's the thing: the Oakland average takes into account price of an average Oakland apartment. 1/2 of Oakland are not places people often think of moving to from the city - the eastern and southern portions of the city, So if we are talking about the places that are hot, it's just as unaffordable as SF and in many cases even less available.

Too many apartment complexes fighting for your dollars....not as old as those other cities, so the infrastructure is not as predefined. People are willing to live outside the city and drive. You can get a really nice 1 bd room for $1500.

I am not conceited, I am just convinced
