Teeth whitening

I've been wanting to get my teeth whitened. What are the best products? I don't have a whole lot of money so preferably it won't cost too much.

Right now I just started the whitestrips to see how they work. Has anyone tried something called britesmile?

no, but i used 'rapid white'.
this is how it works:
you wear a thing for 15-20 minutes, and what it does is provide oxygen to free up all the ugly looking stuff that comes from cofee etc...
i bout it a while ago, and still use it sometimes when I have time. It is not too expensive i don't think, as far as i can remember, but definitely worth it, good luck.

I have veneers (or however you spell it) on my teeth so I cant use those whitening products. And it sucks cos I want perfect white teeth and mine are far from that. I want replacements.

Self-confidence? I hate my teeth and hardly smile because of it. So if they were perfect white teeth my life would be enhanced. At least I think it would. People say my teeth are just fine and it's all in my head but... I hate them.

Uh, okay....are you from the UK? In America teeth are a status symbol. If your teeth are not white and straight you gotta be straight out of Alabama!

Crest white strips works very well. The key is to do two boxes in a row.

Yup, Crest White Strips are the way to go, and def. do 2 boxes in a row. And now they have Crest Night Strips, or whatever. You wear them when you sleep. White Strips are $25 a box at Wal Mart, but check out your Sunday coupons in the paper, they've been having $9 off coupon for them lately. (2 boxes in a row....)

Same reason I brush my hair in the morning, wear matching shoes, get a nice haircut, put on make-up, etc.

I never said it was important. But if you can and you want to, why not? I've certainly spent my money on some stupid things - why not on something that makes me look and feel better and will last for a while?

btw, thanks for everyone's input.

Mrs Eggy, it's an American thing, I think. We always see Americans as people with teeth that are too white, often unnaturally white.

Nice teeth is important, but I prefer them to look natural.

Everything you do continues long after you've gone

I know it's an American thing and most of the Americans I've met told me that it is very important to have white (or better ultra-white) teeth. I just wanted to hear from people how whitening could change their lives because it is hard for me to imagine that it actually can have a major impact.

As Tine said, I prefer natural look. Whitening does not make teeth healthier. On the contrary, it could damage the tooth enamel which makes the process even less reasonable.

Just an IMHO from a non-American

Any of the teeth whitening products on the market achieve results by giving you a product that removes layers of enamel....speak to your'e dentist.

****** Dasha Sam, Jarka, Casey, Serena , then the guys with nice asses on the ATP, followed by other Aussies, bit of a gap...then Venus.....bit of a bum scratch...then will watch Lisiki or Radwanksa...gap...everyone else (or sleep) ******Pending membership for the Ash Barty Return Band Wagon*****

Hum... I've done Crest White Strips once and I haven't been really impressed. Maybe, you are right about the two box in a row. Besides, my teeth wasn't that bad in the beginning, so perhaps the effects aren’t that accurate. Anyway, I may try the two box in a row when I will find a rebate on them.

Well, you know, this is the big question. As everything else, like plastic surgery, building up his body, wearing coloured contact lenses, etc. ; whitening his teeth is something you do to increase your physical appearance, because this is important for you. When you put all those little things together, this can change your life if this helps you to have more confidence and feel better about yourself. Self perception is important, believe me. I’ve feel bad about myself for a very long time and this can really influence your life. In fact, it’s a matter of choice and of what’s important for you…
