Planning on visiting Stockholm...tips/advice plz

Hi guys,
I'm looking to visit Stockholm for 3/4 days over this summer. I'm just wondering has anyone been there and would recommend it? I'm also wondering if it is indeed as expensive as made out for food and drink...like even more so than central London (Soho) prices?
I'm also curious what the gay scene is like there?
Stockholm seems really beautiful to me and has been on my "must visit" list for years now.
Any tips and advice on what to see/do there would be greatly appreciated

Re: Planning on visiting Stockholm...tips/advice plz

Stockholm is beautiful. I've been twice for work, and both times during the winter. I can only imagine how much more beautiful it will be during the summer. To me, it's the most beautiful of the Nordic capitals. (Though I've never been to Iceland so can't compare.) I did, however, find the city expensive, but I'm not the most prudent traveler. I'm sure it's possible to do it without spending as much money as I did. I only went to a couple of bars/clubs, and it seemed like the gay scene is pretty solid, especially if you're only there for like three nights.

It's a great city for shopping if you're into that. And have the money for it. Södermalm is the "bohemian" part of town, which has cool cafes, boutiques, etc. The city center is also quite nice. Both times I was there I hung out at Riche, which has a mixed crowd and pretty fun. I wish I could be more help, but I can barely remember what I actually did. Last time I was there was two years ago.

Cheers for that
Perhaps a silly question but did you find most people you dealt with were able to speak english over there?
Not that it matters too much....last time I was in London most people didn't understand a word I was saying with my accent anyway

Uh, it was simply stunning....blue skies, hot Swedes, glistening water, gorgeous architecture..it felt like I was in a parallel universe and not just 2:30 hours away from grey Dublin
I cannot wait to go back when I can afford it again

What places did you visit?
I will go there for some days in August and bringing a certain Belgian guy with me to explore our beautiful capital...

Who said that's the only thing?

Btw: I thought internet roaming outside Serbia was expensive?

I sincerely like the architecture of the Scandinavian girls. I know they like to party. But I also heard they do not accept strangers or at least they hardly accept strangers.

^ Depends at what ocassion. They definitely do accept most (normal acting) people at a nightclub or similiar, I can say that with confidence.

I did a lot of walking around Old Town is beautiful with its narrow laneways and quaint buildings. There's some real scandi eye-candy guarding the Royal Palace if you fancy a bit of a perv
But the real touristy I things I did was visit Vasa museum, SkyGlobe, Skansen and Grona Lund. Make sure you go on the chairlift ride at Grona Lund to get the most amazing views of the city
There's lots of lovely green areas that have outdoor bars attached to them so definitely sit out under the stars with a nice cocktail in one of those parks.
Oh and the Swedes like to head out late and stay out very late so maybe hit a club around 2am and stay till 5am.
If you're gay, Le Bon Palais, Wonk and Torget are definitely worth checking out

We are planning to check out some clubs at stureplan and for the rest we will see. Hanging around the old town and some of the islands like Djurgården, but that will depend on the weather I guess. Hope the weather will still be as good as it is now.

Any restaurants that you can recommend?
