Kidman: I'd quit for love in a heartbeat
NICOLE KIDMAN has revealed she would give up her career "in a heartbeat" if she found Mr Right to love and marry.
The 37-year-old Australian star won last year's best actress Oscar and is favourite to claim top honours at the Cannes Film Festival.
But the mother of two adopted children and ex-wife of superstar Tom Cruise has admitted she yearns for love.
"I'm willing to go back into it for the right person," she said.
"In a heartbeat. Definitely."
Kidman turned heads in a chiffon gown by Christain Lacroix at the red carpet world premiere of her new movie Dogville at Cannes.
Earlier she said her schedule exhausted her.
"I probably won't do this for the rest of my life," she said.
"I think, probably, when I fall in love then that's when I stop doing as much because I would want to settle down again.
"In acting you give so much of yourself that you have to step away from it at some stage.
"You can't do what I'm doing forever."
Kidman has been linked with Robbie Williams, Tobey Maguire and another of her leading men, Ewan McGregor.
She admitted to having developed a crush on him while they filmed Moulin Rouge.
But she was adamant any suggestion of an affair with Jude Law was not true.
And she also denied rumours she was dating fellow Oscar winner Adrien Brody, who is also in Cannes.
"There's no one," she said. "He's a fun friend and we like to hang out. He has got a girlfriend."
Kidman said she had a three-hour screaming match with Dogville director Lars von Trier to clear the air while shooting the movie, which is about a fragile woman's efforts to be accepted in a grim, end-of-the-road Rocky Mountains town.
"When I arrived in Sweden, the first week was tricky. He had preconceptions about me and I did about him," Kidman said.
"Then we went off into the forest and had a heart-to-heart. It was a three-hour, warts and all, screaming walk. But we came out with a very strong commitment to each other."
Kidman pledged to extend the film to a trilogy. "Lars, I'm making the trilogy with you, you know that," she said.
