Need help!

I know there are a lot of intelligent people here so hopefully you can help me. This is for my Legal Studies report - I need to get a good mark to get into university.

What is International Law and how can this relate to UNESCO? What is UNESCO exactly? What does it specialise in? I went to their site but it was very vague. Anyway I am finding this assignment very difficult. Also what are some advantages and disadvantegs of UNESCO?

Help? Anyone? ???

for the trade unionists, but I didn't
speak up because I wasn't a trade
unionist. They came for the Catholics,
but I didn't speak up because I was
a Protestant. Then they came for me,
but by that time there wasn't anyone
left to speak up for me."

www.unesco.org

United Nations Educational, Scientific, & Cultural Organizastion.

UNESCO, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Its constitution was adopted by the London Conference in November 1945, and entered into effect on the 4th of November 1946 when 20 states had deposited instruments of acceptance.

It currently has 188 Member States (as of 19 October 1999).

The main objective of UNESCO is to contribute to peace and security in the world by promoting collaboration among nations through education, science, culture and communication in order to further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the human rights and fundamental freedoms which are affirmed for the peoples of the world, without distinction of race, sex, language or religion, by the Charter of the United Nations.

I already have that.

My questions are:

Define the key concepts and ideas
Explain why this topic is important in International Law
What role does this topic play in Australia
What advantages/disadvantages are there in having this particular structure or legal framework?

Anyone want to take a stab at them?

I know but I have an Australian Studies presentation to do also. Meant to be doing it in a team but I got paired up with a girl who is doing stuff all so I'm left to do all the research and writing by myself. Basically I just want to know how International Law and UNESCO work together, the other questions I pretty much know - except maybe the Australian one. Argh! Stress! I hate my partner! She is so going to pay for this!

I think Unesco has the right to make International Law concerning the areas it covers (education et all) in the countries that are members. I think there might be some Unesco treaties, but I really don't have the time to look for them.

Good luck Dinara, Justine and Kim
