Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Utterly ridiculous to penalize Vettel in Monza.

Basically the FIA eliminated Vettel from being a contender for the championship.

Way out of line. Last year no one was punished when the exact same scenario happened between the two drivers (Vettel had to go over the grass in order to pass Alonso, yet it was treated as normal racing and no one talked about Vettel being squeezed).

Seems that Jean Toad acting as if he's still working for his former employer

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

For me too the penalty for Vettel was harsh but he'd have got 0 pts anyway.

ANASTASIA MYSKINA ROLAND GARROS CHAMPION 2004
....losing only 14 games in the second week against V.Williams, Capriati and Dementieva

VALENTINO ROSSI - 9 TIMES WORLD CHAMPION - 106 WINS
KIMI RAIKKONEN - F1 WORLD CHAMPION 2007 - 20 WINS

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Except in 2011 Alonso left Vettel a good amount of space...

Anyway, it's a no brainer penalty following the defensive driving clarification back in July.

Vettel's retirement has set him back in the title race, not the penalty. I'd still say he's the favourite, even though the momentum is with McLaren at the moment. The Red Bull is faster than the Ferrari, Sebastian has a calmer head and better race brain than Hamilton and Button is too far behind in the points to realistically win.

"That's not my wonder! It's just a smelly sock!"

Another pole for Lewis - Maldonado on the front row

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Confirmed.
  • Lewis going to MercedesGP
  • Current Mercedes/Mclaren long-term engine supply deal will not be extended (from now on McLaren will have to pay hefty money to continue using Merc motors)
  • Mexican Perez will replace Lew at McLaren
  • And Schumi will retire at the end of this year.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

I thought Lewis would stay at McClaren since he's been there since he was 5 or whatever
and isn't this a step down?
Good to see Perez get a chance in one of the best cars.

Top 10: Ashleigh Barty, Caroline Garcia, Jamie Hampton, Jelena Jankovic, Agnieszka Radwanska, Lucie Safarova, Maria Sharapova, Karolina Sprem, Sam Stosur, Jarmila Wolfe.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Sad that Lewis goes to Merc, I woulda loved to see him driving all his career at Macca and winning many world titles for them, that woulda been something special.

Otoh, great that Checo was smart and went to Macca instead of waiting a Ferrari seat. Now he's a 2013 title contender, at Ferrari, if he'd ever got to there, he'd have been only Alonso's No.2.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

I am geniunely surprised at Hamilton's move to Mercedes...I always thought he will never ever leave McLaren Wonder what triggered his decision to switch teams? Hopefully Perez can perform in a McLaren, nice to see him get a good car for once

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Former F1 driver JJ Lehto verdict is announced today - manslaugter or not. Lower lever said yes and sentenced him to prison for 2 years. As it was debatable he has not sat one day yet.

Me? I think quilty as charged. We will see in couple hours time...

EDIT: I got that wrong. Hearing ended today, verdict is given sometime in the future.

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Vettel erases most of Alonso's lead. I guess Seb is the favourite to win another title
Finally Massa gets on the podium and also good for Kobayashi doing it at his home race.

Top 10: Ashleigh Barty, Caroline Garcia, Jamie Hampton, Jelena Jankovic, Agnieszka Radwanska, Lucie Safarova, Maria Sharapova, Karolina Sprem, Sam Stosur, Jarmila Wolfe.

All time favourite: Anna Chakvetadze

Re: 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship

Over the last race, 2 races, 3 races, 4 races and even 5 races Felipe has gained more points than Fernando overall. Yes he's only had one podium during that time but his form has improved so much!

Anyway Felipe is my fave driver and so proud and happy for him today, hope this is the start of something new! Also so happy Kimi took out Fernando and now Sebastian is looking good for the title and than Kamui's first podium came at home, great achievement and 3 great guys on the podium!

Proud fan of mugs, chokers and clowns such as...
Robson | Lisicki | Shvedova | Stosur | Pironkova | Kirilenko | Kvitova
