White Oleander: The Movie

If you have also read the book, do you feel shortchanged and disappointed by the film?

110 minutes is too short for such an engrossing story. And what was up with those disgusting wigs on Astrid?

Sam,
I got the movie at Blockbusters. Maybe they haven't gotten it yet where you are.

I *didn't* read the book but I thought that *both* Michelle Pfeiffer and Robin Wright Penn *deserved* Oscar nominations. Queen Latifah *definitely* stole one of their spots in the Supporting category.

You are referring to their performance in Oleander?

I will say that they did a very fine job and are very good actors, in fact I did not envision Pfieffer as Ingrid, but good acting is usually very convincing. Neither performance was oscar material though. Then again, that might be because I hold the book in such high esteem, it distorts my judgement of the film.
