Simple luxuries

How do you guys treat yourselves?

I have quite a few of them. For one, I get manis. They're only $10 in New York, and I reckon I will never clean my own nails like a nail salon would. (Side story: I have koala nails right now, because manis in Melbourne are like $25 - no thanks.) I also go to the barbershop to get my beard shaved. I can't be bothered. I always cut myself, and I'm too lazy to do it so after like a month of not shaving, I just pay someone to do it.

Re: Simple luxuries

Simple luxuries? Do you mean things like maids or stylists? Or getting yourself a massage etc?

If you're not paying for something, then you're the product.

Re: Simple luxuries

I have a long driveway and a hike to the mailbox so I bought myself a golf cart.

Re: Simple luxuries

I like really nice bed linens too. Last year I spent a small fortune on 1500 thread count sheets

I am also fond of kitchen gadgets. And I pay the $450 anual fee for my amex card to get access to the airport lounges and concierge service.

Re: Simple luxuries

Sally, you're just straight ballin'.

I eat lunch from out way too often...waste of money and health. Too lazy to pack a lunch.

Other than that, I'm pretty scrupulous with my money. Too many bills raising a family.

Re: Simple luxuries

When travelling on my own, I always prefer to fork out extra to stay in a nice hotel than do b&b/hostel

Re: Simple luxuries

a couple of times i've slept in and taken a cab to work instead of taking the subway. i feel guilty for needlessly spending money but it feels so nice to just sit back and relax instead of standing and shoving.

Re: Simple luxuries

nothing, i try to stay modest as much as i can.

i was in luxuries hotels just bc my work place (the bank) took us in the USA and i rarely go to Restaurants, only when ppl ask me to come bc of a bday.
i had a free Massage and breakfast and I gave it to my grandmother.

i travel as much as i can, its my gift to myself but i dont buy Expensive things

Re: Simple luxuries

Oh.. another thing I do to pamper myself is spending an obscene amount of money on food. I am a sucker for all the organic/free range stuff. I spent $6 on a dozen eggs yesterday But they are damn good eggs

And like someone else said earlier, I do shell out for luxury hotels too. Really, I wouldn't be caught dead in a hostel. My idea of roughing it is a hotel with no minibar.

Does premium gas count as a luxury too? The car says to put that in so I do. And I get a car was every week.

Once when I was in Boston, I took a cab to go 500 feet since it was raining

I don't do cheap motels, either. But not luxury...just in the middle.

I'm older than a lot of you guys so I have more disposable income.

My partner does this! Drives me crazy!! When we lived in Seoul he'd take a taxi from the metro station

I don't really splash out on myself that much but I rarely deprive myself either. I'm a pretty good saver. I travel as much as possible and even in Ireland and Korea I do/did a lot of touristy things. I like to eat out and lately I've been spending 5 euros a week on 200g of harissa - a rip off, but I love the stuff! I shop fairly often at times but I don't buy expensive clothes as much as I used to - I'm all about the bargains now. I used to have the barest essentials in my bathroom/toiletries bag but now I spend more and more on toiletries.

Re: Simple luxuries

Dare I even mention the heated toilet seat I had installed in the master bathroom?
