I've the Chrome homepage showing your 8 most visited website in small windows. You can go there with a click. An google is usually among them.
Have you ever had problems with it?
How is it with ads and pop-ups?
I tried Chrome browser once and didn't like it. But I don't remember why because it was so long ago.
Does its homepage load fast (on average) compared to others?
Astronomy Picture of the Day - http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/
Usually beautiful images and you can learn a thing or two. And no two days are the same.
That's actually an interesting homepage, but too specific for my taste.
I suppose if I was into astronomy it would be perfect.
Forget about using msn, yahoo etc to get your news. Customize your own news with Feedly or some other rss feed app then set that as your homepage.
There are tons of apps out there that will aggregate news from different sources in one place for you or will suggest news based on your reading habits and categories you are interested in. Some will let you create sections based on keywords e.g healthcare reform, ps4 etc
The huge amount of work needed to create the best layout possible was what I was trying to avoid though. But I just may have to do it.
Actually, I had my msn.com homepage set up with all of the rss stock, investment, weather, and sports feeds I wanted, but again, it was slow going, and took too long to load. I think at the time, I had my anti-virus protection settings set so high that I was waiting literally minutes for my homepage to clear all of the anti-virus checks.
The sheer number pop-up, ads, and cookies was ridiculous.
Maybe I'll bite the bullet and go with a freeware browser, and then customize entirely from there like you suggest this time around.
