Who teaches me some Dutch?

well, after the discussion about my sentence I thought to start a thread where discussing some Dutch stuff and grammar. As you maybe know I learn Dutch but it's so difficult to speak (and write) it.

Well, a colleague of mine asked me for two words but I wasn't able to translate it for her.
So what does "de soeten haert" means? She told me it has to do with holidays ...

Sorry, I can't speak Dutch, but that's the name of a place, I don't know if this has a meaning...

de soeten haert? It's old Dutch, old spelling. 'ae' is now spelled as 'aa', soeten would now be spelled zoet(e). These days you only see the old spelling in names (think of Maeike )

Like MS said, De Soeten Haert is a holiday resort, that's all.

I think it's supposed to mean 'the sweet heart' but I'm not sure. heart is 'hart' in Dutch.

This sentence doesn't make much sense.

Everything you do continues long after you've gone

misschien dat het zeeuws dialect is?

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

hi! i learned some dutch at school last year.
one sentence i remember is:
ik vind de school niet altijd fijn

"We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls"

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
