Kubrick? He made many later films in England. He also lived in England. So, not a Hollywood director. Personally think he's overrated

Surprised you're not rooting for Kazan, aren't you Greek?

Kazan was
Born: Elias Kazanjoglou
September 7, 1909 in Constantinople, Ottoman Empire [now Istanbul, Turkey]

Kazan might be the greatest Greek American
Nobody dominated the movie scene like Kazan in the 50s after Griffith.
Too bad he cooperated with HUAAC.

Re: Greatest Hollywood Director

I know that he's Greek and he is a legendary director, I love "A streetcar named desire" and "On the Waterfront" but he's not that popular here. Unfortunately his actions have blemished his image... I still remember the mixed reactions when he received his honorary Oscar (some didn't clap at all, don't remember if he was booed)

The greatest Greek American is obviously Jennifer Aniston, nothing can surpass her role as a sex-addict dentist in "Horrible Bosses"

The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved, and people are being used."

Actually, I'm surprised this film isn't more widely discussed on TF. Wood at his best. (That's actually him as Glen).

Comparing Jen to Kazan is an insult But didn't know Jen was Greek In fact, to think of it, that letter Ανιςτον IS Greek, thx for the info.

He is definitely one of the best 1970s directors for sure. But too meager outputs, and limited poll choice

Callas is not American But both Kazan and her dominated the artistic scene in the 1950s

Re: Greatest Hollywood Director

On a second thought. This is competition! Not that Hitch is in any danger. But even I could make solid arguments for Scorcese and/or Kazan!

Re: Greatest Hollywood Director

Billy Wilder! Not even a contest.

A bunch of filthy books have come out that Vivien Leigh was banging Kazan during Streetcar, and like more and more stories from random guys. If she was really banging all these guys, she would never have had time to shoot the movie. It's like with Marilyn, if she's talked to all these people the night she died, she would never have had time to take the pills.

Whitney Houston and her receipts:
